Ok, so my best friend's boyfriend and I got hired at the same jewelry store in our local mall. After a couple of weeks of working there, I noticed that my manager wasn't giving him any hours. Then next week's schedule came out and his name wasn't even on it.
I figured last night that because I'm a good friend that I should tell my friend what's going on with his job. When I told her, she broke down. She even got really angry at one point while I was trying to comfort her and said, "I hate Zales!" (in her own words of course) Now, while I'm not happy with what my manager has done, the company itself had nothing to do with it. In fact, I like working for Zales.
For the rest of the night, she didn't cheer up. We tried to get her to play a game on the Wii, but she just stared at the TV while we played Tiger Woods '09. I don't think she cried, but she was close to tears. An hour later, she apologized and said she was going home.
The thing that sucks the most is why her boyfriend isn't getting hours. Apparently, his bike chain broke one time when he was going to work and Zales ended up opening late. When that happens, the mall gives the store a $500 fine.
I'm still looking for another part time job or a full time one. If Maurice's hires me and offers me better pay and more hours, I might quit at Zales or reduce my hours there at least. I do like working at Zales. I never thought that selling jewelry was so fun.
On the plus side, I found a ring I really like... it's only $150 ($104.30 with my 30% discount). See picture below!
