I am sitting in the student union at my school, waiting for class to start. Today and Thursday are my early days this semester. Ugh, I really don't want to be here today. I can't stand my math class in the slightest. She treats us okay, being that we can use cell phones, but we are given waaay too many projects for a MATH class and she grades our homework so so harshly. I have had enough of it. I might as well not bother to do it being that she will just cut it down and give me a bad grade on top of the fact that I took the time to do it. What a waste.
I have no respect for a teacher that, first of all, doesn't respect their students, and secondly, act like she cares about us or cares if we succeed. I mean, I understand that it is college, but why is it so hard to actually help us instead of throwing up a whole ton of information onto the board and/or powerpoint and pretending that we all get it?
I am not meaning to trash-talk, I am just frustrated. I came to community college to learn and not be in an environment where the teacher lectures for an hour or two and walks away saying the test is in two weeks.
I don't understand math projects at all. I guess that long assignments make sense, but projects that are worth 50-150 points and, on some, if you "get caught" working with someone else, you lose all credit.
It is a real-applications math class, not a calculus, find the meaning and speed of the universe class. Why is it that I had a better grade in Precalc than this class? Is it the level of theory? No. It is the style of learning.
Sorry for the rant, but I feel much better now.
