Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
I've been meaning to update my journal with random contemporary Gaia thoughts. This way I can look back at them later to see how my opinions have changed with the times.
First up, winks! Just was we all went gaga over the first wig (sasha's wig) and the first base (masterpieces, I think), we just got our first contacts that allow us to wink.
The GCD's current topic of obsession is the diapered egg. This egg seemingly came out of swirls flames and hearts to give us our second winking contacts! Not only do they wink, they look suspiciously like our first winking contacts from the Gaia-tan item.
First, Gaia-tan brought us our first winking contacts! It is a rare item found from the Gee-Boi RIG. The Gee-Boi info page was found before the item was announced or put up for sale in the shops. One of the preview avatars were winking, so people couldn't wait to own the winking item. Once Gee-boi was released, Gaia-tan instantly shot up in price. It hung around 2.5m - 3m for a while... and is now currently bouncing between 1.5-1.8m.
Most people wrote off the diapered egg as a failed EI. Every time it evolved, it gave users different options of the same ideas: cupid, flying hearts, swirling fire, flying swirling hearts and fire. Its last evolution was also delayed week after week. I know for sure that it was delayed for two weeks, but it could also have been three or four. It felt like that anyway. I think the first gen cost around 50k while the other gens hovered 30k before yesterday's announcement. The egg evolved annnd~ the only fiery pose is an egg-shaped swirl of fire. The egg gave ribbons and scarves and bows annnd~ winking eyes.
The winking eyes of the Gaia-tan are a deeper blue than the soulless pale sky blue of the egg. The right eye of the tan winks, while the left eye of the egg winks. Both winks have a stray heart floating off.
Many people are kicking themselves for selling their eggs since the prices of all generations rose to over 100k yesterday. However, even 100k is a lot less than 1.6m.
Many owners of the gaia-tan feel outraged since they think the new item will drop the value of their gaia-tan they spent so much on. We were bound to get a remake of the winking pose, we just got it much earlier than expected.
The Gaia-tan still has many other one of a kind poses and people who want that wink will continue to save up for it. It's sort of the same idea that goes along with the 2003 devil tail DI. For years the only devil tail available on the site was that one. Some people just want to be able to have a devil tail to complete their avatar, they don't care how rare it is or how much it's worth. It's nice that we now have cheaper alternatives to the DT for those who just want a devil tail. ...I'm still holding out for a devil tail that has the same presence as the DT. The DT adds to avatars, the remakes all distract from avatars. Um, yeah, this is a whole 'nother topic. XD; Back in line!
The egg just offers a nice alternative for those who just want to be able to wink.
Also, the rare RIG items keep getting rereleased in the next RIGs, bringing their value down a bit more anyway. The Gaia-tan is bound to deflate eventually.
The owners of the Gaia-tan are mad because the diapered egg "copied" their wink. Well duh. Gaia makes a lot of repeat items... Here is the question though. Did Gaia-tan copy the diapered egg? Phase three of the diapered egg shows a cupid winking with his pale blue eyes.. and with a flying heart emote. Phase three of the diapered egg came out long before Gaia-tan was released. Therefore, the diapered egg's wink didn't totally appear from out in left field.
I personally like both poses rather equally. I still want a Gaia-tan because I have a soft spot for items that say gaia on them or items that come from the Gaia-anniversary events.
My beef? I've been waiting for years to be able to wink and our first two winking contacts make us have blue eyes. What if I want grey eyes? </3 As i said, I'm into the Gaia items, so one of my recurring color schemes revolve around blue and pink. I miss the days of the giant pink Gaia logo. I know that was unfair to macho guys who signed onto Gaia in public places, but still~ Anyway, the blue/pink/black wink contacts should fit into my Gaia outfits easily so I'd really like a pair.
What do I want? Winking contacts in various colors. While I do love the hearts, I do hope we get winking contacts sans hearts. Less colors equals more versatile.
What am I holding out for? A wink contact. The possibility already exists. The nestegg has a scarred eye pose that replaces an eye. The other eye is left alone. It also layers over contacts. Replace the nasty scar with a cute "n" shape and you've got a wink. <3 Now that's what I'll go gaga over. * 3*
And since we'll eventually get that, I'm not going to go too crazy over our current winking contacts. Okay, so I may just go a tad crazy since we can finally wink! =D
