Gold Plating
By Stephanie Cotton
the gold plating flakes off my ring,
once such a beautiful thing.
does love last forever
after the onset of routine?
once such a beautiful thing,
the sun is setting.
after the onset of routine,
run with me into the land of never.
the sun is setting
i can see the second star on the right.
run with me into the land of never,
i'm too afraid to take flight.
i can see the second star on the right,
once such a beautiful thing.
i'm too afraid to take flight,
no more gold plating on my copper ring.

.....ok, it's not the best, but i love it. my favorite parts are the allusions to Peter Pan. i think it works very well together and the ideas flow into each other quite nicely.
I do not know what this type of poem is called, but as you can see, it uses a pattern of repeated lines to create a dreamlike effect.
