Quote: Scenerio: A light brown colored wolf has been surrounded by a circle of fire. He/she is located in the middle of a forest, and the only clear path out of the woods is straight forward and through a human camp. The humans in the camp are merciless, they wield shot guns and are not afraid to kill, or come close to a wild animal. The wolf must be fast in order to avoid death either by the fire, or the humans. Mind you, the fire is surrounding the wolf, so there is no opening between the fire. This couldn't be the end... Heat, searing heat all around her. The bars to a cage that were too close together to squeeze out of, the flames danced around her making the air hot and heavy. It was hard to breath for the small she wolf, panting within a seemingly ring of fire that has enclosed her. Murra had been running for her life since the moment the forest was set ablaze. The forest she called home now being destroyed with her in it to witness its end and most likely come to her own. The paw prints of her averaged sized, black paws was very quickly eaten up and the memory she had been there at all was discarded as soon as the fire could do it away. She could feel slight numbness creep into her paws from the abuse they were taking. They started to softly throb under the pressure she was putting them through. Her legs wobbled and Murra was ready to collapse, no more pain, no more running, no more emptiness that came to greet her every where she walked. No more being such a loner. It seemed like the perfect way out. A door way to escape through that opened for her waiting for her to jump through it and be free somewhere much better than here in this ghostly forest. The forest had no life to it, no birds sang when the sun came out. No little critters made their homes and family's here within the bark and wood of the tall Grey trees. The trees were also just as lifeless as the wildlife population, they seemed to scrape at the sky with thier sickly branches that resembled the claws to a nasty creature. When one dared to look up, craning their neck to do so, the sight that met them was a cloudy and dark luminous sky, the death colored trees making even darker silhouettes on the clouds above. They were very dry, being dead for so long some of them refused to stand any longer and simply let themselves fall. Let themselves succumb to the powerful force that held everything to the ground and made sure it stayed there. They were like grave stones for the lively and joyful emerald forest that once stood here. That was the forest she loved to remember, with her small pack her parents made here once. The smell of her mothers warm and heavenly soft fur! She missed those days terribly at times but always told herself-- sometimes you just need to move on and get over the past so you can have a future. The future! She wasn't going to have one at this rate! Murra miserably realized as she put her paws over her muzzle, resting on the ground she shook like a leaf in the fall, that one leaf that just wouldn't let go of the tree. Like it was afraid to fall. Though Murra was afraid for much different reasons then falling out of a tree. She could deal with falling out of a tree, but she wasn't climbing trees at the moment. She was trying to outsmart one of the oldest predators in the wild. It was primitive and had no intelligence. Fire only consumed. Licked hungrily at anything it found suitable to eat and soon it was going to find her a very tasty snack. Thats all she was now, a snack to something as old as time itself. Great. No better than the lame trees just waiting to burn up-- then go into the air in its new smoky form. The trees! Murra looked up, the fire was drawing a whole lot closer to her now, the heat was approaching unbearable to her fur covering her body. She looked at the lowest branches, they were close to the fire but it was much better than being in the flames themselves. It was risky, it was a half baked plan but it was the better of the two options she had. She could sit there and wait to be burned alive or she could attempt to escape the ill-fate laid down before her. Murra was going to go with option number two. She wasn't just going to lay down and die! It seemed very hopeless and it seemed like a poor attempt to save her life, but if she died, so did the memories she had. Locked away in her heart. Those cherished memories of her past pack would die with her, unknown to the rest of world like they were nothing but the charred dirt and wood that would remain here. After her, after the trail of destruction the fire would leave. Like they never existed in the first place. Murra was not about to let that happen to them all, not on her patrol she wasn't. Suddenly the heat was much closer, in fact, she was about to be crushed by a huge flaming tree falling towards her at a very rapid rate. Now or never! She lunged forward, the tree missing her by a very close amount she could feel the embers behind her thrown off of the main fire that had engulfed the tree. Murra tensed up her whole body, she summoned all the strength she had in her, all of what was left. Running for a short distance that was available to her at the time she then released all of it. In one smooth and quick leap, everything seemed to slow as she tried to make it over the flames that made up the prison. She refused to be its prisoner any longer! This might be her last time doing this, feeling so free and the wonderful sensations of the air, the soft and seemingly harsh wind that was propelling the fire forward was the same wind when she was much younger. When the soft and cool breeze would ruffle her fur, she would stare at the ripples in her fur as well as the grass around her in her own secret little meadow. Now it was just as savage as the flames, it carried embers to her and greeted her fur with painful pricks as they hit and quickly died out taking little bits of fur with them. Now as she soared just above the top of the fire she could feel her back legs burning. She could smell the fur being singed and could taste the scent of flesh being burned. She couldn't help but yelp at the pain but even the sounds Murra made was quickly swallowed but the thunderous roaring of the forest fire. She must of jumped just a bit too low, just short of what she needed to escape the danger. She cringed and waited for the rest of her to start to burn as well when her front paws met the ground once more. Her stone blue eyes opened wide to take in the ground before her she was never so happy to see the dull dirt of the forest before this moment! It wasn't on fire-- therefore a much better place to be, a soft kiss to the earth rapidly turned into the light brown, now much darker in some places, she wolf tumbling on the ground. The small flames that was attacking her soon was put out by the motion. She stopped after a moment of this, her entire body now feeling the sore her paws did, as well as the painful burns to her hind legs. Murra was alive, as not on fire. That was a plus, but the danger was not over yet it was far from it. Murra just wanted to rest there on the cool ground but she slowly got back up, she knew it wouldn't stay cool for much longer. She knew of the other dangers of the forest and she also knew the only was out was past another danger, almost worse than the death the flames behind her sweetly promised her. Humans. A rather large camp of them. Merciless, cruel, and not afraid of a wild animal such as herself. It didn't matter what she knew or didn't know though at this point, she would have to face them either way and grappled with them for her own life. She was slightly tempted just to jump right back into the fire and not save herself. However she still had a job to do and failure was not one of her options. She had one now. Go ahead on her current path and make it past the humans. Murra preferred she was mostly alive when she got through them. She walked briskly then her legs went faster pounding against the earth as her walk turned into a run. She figured maybe she could simply run past them, her body was not up for holding out that long. She was weak, she hated to admit it but she hadn't eaten in too long of a time, her fur coat was looking dull and mistreated, her shoulders carried a lot of weight and were heavy.
