Would you like eyes with your new 'do?
Eyes! =D
We can finally buy eyes in the shops. &3 They're available from Salon Durem. XD So now we can pick up a whole new set of eyes as we wait for our perms to set. And i swear this reminds me of the Wizard of Oz...
Anywho, the eyes are more expensive than I thought they'd be. x .x; I'm a cheapskate. I think I'll continue to delete and recreate my avatar for new eyes. ...However, it is a much cheaper route if you'd have to re-buy some salon hair that costs a couple thousand.
I heard that the five original eyes aren't available now when you create a new account. To obtain them, you had to delete and recreate your avatar. This would explain why the five original eyes cost more than the newer ones.

XD It's taking me forever to get this typed up. I noticed some new contacts in the forums, checked what the person was wearing, didn't find it as an item so ran back to the salon. .... When I started this entry, only the current eye styles were available in the salon. But now... now there are three new styles: excited, chuu and dreamy. I like all three, why can't they just be contacts? *shucks* XDDD
From their prices, they're probably not available through avatar deletion, but I hope they are~~
New Site Navigation
Gaia has been busy updating things all over the place. Leave it to Gaia to go and do a whole site redesign while I was gone. D; Well, it wasn't all redesigned, but seeing the new navigation bar was pretty shocking. The blue is so bright compared to that old dark violet color. The blue made me happy. XD It made me think of older Gaia layouts. I know I keep saying it, but I really am a fan of the old pink and blue color scheme. In the GCD, I found someone trying to start up a protest against the new changes. 'Wear purple until the bar is changed back!' She said that it made everything confusing since the links changed around. Uhhhh just wait until she actually runs into a real site redesign. XD Yeah, the links changing spots is annoying, but they barely shifted. I think they made a rather easy transition for us. I like that these changes are happening slowly instead of all at once. x -x;
I like the changes they've made to the guild system and homepage. Very nifty. Seeing the top couple newest topics in each guild makes it easier to keep up with them too.
We have new item previews in the shops too. =D Click on an item, and the preview is already up. You don't have to make an extra click to see the preview. Great for all us lazy people out there. You can even click an option to preview that item alone on your avatar. That will really come in handy when I run around previewing new shop updates. I hate when I have a jacket shirt equipped that won't let me see an undershirt in a preview... but I don't want to run around topless either. :B I wonder if we can preview items while sitting down or standing backwards yet...
It does take longer to load the preview... And there are times when I'd just want to buy the item without loading a preview. That might be a bit irksome when my internet connection is on the fritz.
Lucky Chest
Grrr, Gaia is smart. I really thought that the Aquarium Lucky Chest would deflate in value quickly. Soon, people would own all of the items and they'd have been selling for next to nothing anyway due to supply. Gaia keeps adding more and more items that can only be found in the lucky chest.
They recently released the Assorted Lens Contacts Set. I saw it on tektek and freaked out. I ran around all over the site trying to find out where to get it from. Someone finally told me that they came from the Lucky Chest annnd I ran to my aquarium right after to find a lucky chest showing the contacts in the preview. I haven't been on Gaia much in the past three weeks, but I've still seen a lot of the chests. I'm weird and I've kept track of how many I've seen. I guess I'm still stuck in the old days when everyone kept track of their luck (the amount of giftboxes and trunks they'd found). I get more rare events from the overseer now than I run into around the site. XD; It made me stop keeping track of them. I've seen 28 lucky chests so far... and that's on the low end. I may be 32. The assorted contacts lens item gives us all of the unreleased contacts. &3 Back from the days when we had no contacts and unreleased items were popping up on wishlists everywhere. & & The set is now worth about 17.5k. I'm so happy. I hope it continues to drop more. I don't really need these contacts from a dress up point of view. However, i just have to own those contacts... just because. o wo
Cecil, a very cute... dragon? Um, wait I don't know what it is, but it's sure cute. It's worth about 350k. Now that's incentive for opening the chest. XD
The pirate vest is now worth 8k and the raider garment is now worth 56k. I hope these items continue their drops in price too. x3
According to a thread, there are currently six items that are only available through the lucky chest: coral staff, coral edge, raider shih garment, pirate sando vest, assorted contacts set, cecil. The chicky hoodie and midsummer swirl are also available, even though they're no longer in the CS.
Whaaaaa!?
A new announcement appeared while I was typing this. For one thing, it confused me when it spoke of a new "Luck Chest" ...but I think they still must mean lucky chest. Anyway, the chest can appear 'on land' now where the DC sits and not just in aquariums. They still open using the same key. However, it'll contain a different set of items. x ------x; Soooo when people buy these chests from the MP, how will they tell them apart?
And I wanna know what the new items are. o 3o
Note, the key was selling for 34-38k before that announcement. They're now selling for 50k.
Wow, and I ran into one while I was in the MP. It flashed five different items at me: the coco aquarium cat fish thing, the hamuhamu thing, the raider garment, the pirate vest, that grey and black fish (banggai cardinal) and the contacts set. ...All of those items come in the aquarium lucky chest. Sooo where are the new items? <.< >.>
Skittles Wig
We finally got the skittles wig that we'd been seeing on skittles ads everywhere! Or at least just the ads on Gaia. They come from the skittles fish. It's sad that the fish only live for two weeks. I really like watching them swim~
Second Strike
The second set of aquarium zomg critters is here. I'm not into aquariums so I don't know how well they're exploding over in the aquariums forums and with aquarium and zomg buffs. ...I really don't know much about them at all. I still have to look into them. PX
Lonely Star
The newest RIG delivered a bunch of cute items. Who can resist the kitten star's face? The nartian rock reprise items give a wonderful variety of skins. The borealis items give us girly eyes and wigs too. Between the star babies and gogh reed, I bet someone out there already has a rainbow brite cosplay~ ...if they've got tons of gold.
Garden of Venus
A girl's only world. It's very pretty and full of hot pixel mermen. Or at least they'd be hot if I were into pixels. The guys aren't missing out on much since I don't see much talking when I visit that world.
I'm just glad the sponsored items aren't rare, so guys can get them rather cheaply... if they want bikinis and such. ...Which they should! :B XD Or at least get some of the other purple items. We have so few purple items and Venus just gave us a new purple towel wrap, purple sun glasses and purple skirt to go along with the bikini and sandals. &333 I'm still holding out for some sort of purple hat. *crosses fingers* We don't have many purple hats either...
I still don't understand why they didn't make all of their items the same shade of purple. :B
I saw guys joking about the manly world of beard shaving by Schick. It comes with beer and footballs and bacon. Part of me hopes they can get their own sponsored world soon... and part of me finds the thought disgusting. Well, bacon is yummy...
Summer Camp
Gaia's newest event will send us all to summer camp. So far we've gotten four new cash shop items and it looks like you get a free item when you choose your camp. I still haven't chosen which camp I'm going to join. I must say that I really lean towards the sciences and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the camp labcoat. &3 I have to admit that I've been hoping for a while that Gaia would make a nice, white lab coat. They have white coats and labcoats, but they weren't right... With my current outfit, I can't see the full labcoat in the preview. I hope that yellow spot in the icon doesn't show up much. :B What I've really wanted most is a pair of lab goggles. The gaudier, the better. &3 I hope we get that with our next science-y update. x3
Um yeah, anyway... the only reason I haven't chosen science camp yet is because it seems like most people around the forums have chosen that camp. Investment-wise, that means there will be greater supply of science items to buy in the mp. It sounds like fitness camp has been the least joined so far. I have to admit, I read that Liam heads that camp and he's one of my least favorite NPCs. > < Sooo that made me not want to join that one though it may be more profitable. PX I'm not sure about rich camp. I'm assuming it'll be full of elite snobs, people who think they're rich, but aren't... and smart beggars. ...Smart only because they'd be choosing a good hunting ground. And juvie... I dunno... that's just my worst fit. I don't care to hang around the wannabe gangsters either. Real gangstas would stay away from that place... i think.

Contacts Layering
Just a side thought I wanted to add in here. I noticed that not all of the contacts are on the same layer anymore. The closed eyes usually layer under open ones. And I noticed that the demon lens from the assorted set layered under my contacts from the reve, giving only a grey shadow behind my reve contacts. I don't understand why the contacts are on different layers but now I'm going to go run around checking out the combinations. O: Seriously, there's just way too much to keep up with.
Freckles
The masquerade delivered again. I thought we wouldn't get any more cute poses from it, that it was on to its mad stages. So far the item gave us eye shadow, lipstick and blush. Wow. And bangs for custom two-toned hair. What did we get this week? A mole and freckles. &3 No more needing to use a scarification tattoo to try to add freckles to the face... now there's actual freckles. Wellll... I do still hope other items give us more freckle poses too. They're so cute. :3 The masquerade really has outdone itself. I think it's my new favorite evolving item. It's given us a whole bunch of poses that will fit into all sorts of outfits, styles and themes. @ -@ Not many evolving items do that.
Annnnd I think that's finally it... for now. That took me a while to catch myself up on three weeks of Gaia news. I think i missed a lot of the finer points that must have happened... but I bet I sure wrote enough anyway.
