Battle Cry
This is where I'm going to be posting a story I wrote called "Battle Cry"
Beginning
Her body lay, motionless. She didn’t completely comprehend what had just happened in the pitch-black ally in which her just barely warm body lay now. Her breath was unsteady as she inhaled the fresh scent of blood, her blood. Her already damp clothes were trying to absorb the rose red liquid. She may not have been sure of what had proceeded to happen in this exact area, but she was immensely aware of how close death was upon her broken soul.
She began to feel the tips of her fingers grow numb and that soon turned into what felt like ice. Her feet began to do the same. She knew how close it was now; in a matter of minutes the cold would reach its destination. The cold moved up her arms and legs, she knew what it was after, her heart.
Her brain began to send off messages that her time was coming to a dramatic end. Soon she would be lying in the darkened ally no longer breathing. In her few last moments she tried to feel fear, sadness, anything that would show that she wanted to live on, that she wanted to continue to pretend to many people that her life was alright. She couldn’t force any feeling through her almost dead body except contentment. She knew she was better off this way.
She never belonged anywhere. She tried everything in her power to make friends and live a joyful life. The only thing that kept her from that life was her personality, it scared many people.
She imagined the tombstone that she would never receive in memory of her departure from this planet. Her name carven into the stone with grace Allie Farris Grant. The dates were written the same. Born February 27th 1990 – Died December 19th 2007. Below the dates was one sentence that Allie thought was absolutely perfect. God finally set you free.
Her body was near its end when she released one single drop of salt water; the warmth of the tear burned the skin it touched. There was no color to her skin any longer it was pale, a repulsive pale color. Her lips were faded in color, once the color of a pink rose now was the color of her faded skin. She inhaled a deep breath from her trembling lips but never exhale. She was freed; finally to live the life she’d wanted.
