After the first time, I began to admire Bellentrine's ability to mimic different people types. She came to me a few times and revealed her doll-like face in secret. Soon I began to track her from crowds of people. It was a game we played in every party of social event. I tried to spot her among the crowd and she tried to hide from me. There were so many characters, I can't possibly recall them all. There weren't many male character, though.
Among the widows, singers, models and escorts, there were a few fine details that always gave her away. It took more than six months for me learn them, but they were always the same. She always had pale skin, like porcelain. Sometimes she painted liver spots or moles or freckles, but never a tan or dark skin. Then there was her smile, it was always subtle, red and her mouth was narrow. She never had unpainted lips or wide grins. Mostly she didn't seem to smile at all. And the ring! I can't believe I almost forgot the ring. She always had it, a slim gold ring with three purple stones, the middle one bigger than the other two, and it was always on her left index finger. No matter what cloves or sleeves she wore, that ring was the last and most accurate way of knowing it was her.
We talked a lot, not at the parties but after them. I was compelled by her visions of far away lands and people even more superficial than all my high society fantasies combined. She also told me such secrets about my customers, that I was ready to leave my everything behind to know more. And that's what I did, after two years of sweet talk like no seduction I had ever heard.
