I burned and burned. After what seemed like forever, the burning began to cool off. First from my fingers, then it spread up my arms and it cooled my legs too. I tried not to concentrate on the burning. I heard Rina cooking Sam some eggs and sausage. It must be morning. All the heat from my burning retreated to my heart; as if it could get any hotter. Finally, sometime later, the heat was almost completely gone. Most of it was in my chest now. And my heart beat faster. At last, all the heat went to my heart and with one last ga-lump, it went silent. At first I was shocked, my whole body felt so cool. Then I opened my eyes and saw everything. Literally everything. The ceiling was wood, and I could see all the splinters on it. I sat up. I realized I was in my room, on my bed. I guess Rina put me there while I was burning. I got up and walked around. My mouth tasted like blood and venom. When I opened the door and walked out, I only saw Rina.
"Sam went for a walk. He didn't want to bother you with his stink when you got up," said Rina. She stared at me.
"Oh my gosh!" she suddenly said. "Your eyes! Aren't they supposed to be red when you first are a vampire?"
"Um...I don't know," I said. My voice sounded like bells. What was wrong with me?
"They're purple! They're supposed to turn purple after a few months, that is, if you drink animal blood." said Rina.
"Was Lilith's red?" I asked.
"Yes." I was silent for a while. I realized my throat burned.
"Uh, I think I should go hunt," I finally said. Then I ran up the stairs and into the forest. I ate a mountain lion and two deer. The burning wasn't as bad. It hurt only a little bit.
Oh, Lilith, I thought.
What?I heard. What the? That sounded like Lilith's voice! That was really weird..........I ran back to the house and into Lilith's room. I smelled her stuff. I got her scent-cinnamon and roses. Then I ran to the forest again. I sniffed. I could smell a lot of things. The pine tree next to me. The black roses that were in Adin's prairie. A deer that was nearby. And something that smelled delicious. I felt the urge to chase it but I stopped myself. It was probably a human. Then I smelled a trail of cinnamon and roses-Lilith! I ran down the trail and followed it all the way to Ireland. I saw Lilith.
"Lilith! Could you hear me in your mind?" I asked as soon as I caught up with her.
"Yea, could you hear me?" she asked.
"Yes!"
Can you hear me now? I thought.
"Yes," said Lilith.
Can you hear me? Lilith thought.
"Yes," I said.
We both laughed. My laughter sounded like wind chimes.
"Maybe," said Adin. "It's because you two are related."
"But you're related to Rina and Robert and you can't hear they're thoughts!" said Mary.
"Maybe it's just twins," said Robert.
"Yes, maybe," I said.
Wow.
"Hey, um...I'm going to help you guys find Matthias," I said.
"Okay," said Mary.
Lilith stared at me.
"Aren't your eyes supposed to be red?" she asked.
"Yes, I know. I'm a messed up vampire. Can we talk about this later? You only have 3 days left until Asrai will do something bad to you!" I said!
"Right. Good call," Lilith said.
I was ready for anything. A noise came from the bushes and everybody bared their fangs.
