M'kay, so it's been over a month since I updated this thing. So much has changed that my life has been in chaos!
To start off, Robert and I have been living up here in Oshkosh since the beginning of February. However, at first we were staying with some friends. Then, at the end of March, Robert got hired and is now making money... Thank God! So, with some help from his dad, we moved into our first apartment. Still in Oshkosh, only one bedroom, but it's really nice and quiet at night. The friend that we were living with hates us (in my honest opinion) for who knows what. She hasn't talked to us since we moved out, so that's why I assume that she hates us. Anyway, she let us take two of her cats because the new landlord of their house won't let them keep 5 cats. Shayla is two years old, Angel is gonna be one around September.
In my last post I mentioned how everyone at Zales is racing to get out. I got out first when I got an instant interview and hire at AE Jewelers here in Oshkosh. April 5th was my last day there along with EvS. They offered me better pay and they are right here in Oshkosh so no more commuting. Everyone was really excited for me and so was I. I started there on April 6th, eager to learn.
The week of April 18th I watched my life crumble before me and build itself right back up.
On April 18th, I went into the radio station as I always did on Sunday mornings. Apparently, Sunny had gone off the air and had been off the air since 10:30 that night. Of course, me being tired and I honestly thought I heard it going when I went into the news studio, I didn't go in and check it. I got a call Monday the 19th from Gregg Owens telling me that because of this mistake and more budget cuts, I was being replaced by an intern. Yeah, I was frustrated because I'd never been let go from a job before. But I looked on the bright side and thought, hey no more early Sunday mornings at a crappy station.
On April 20th, I got a call from Susan, the "team leader" at AE. She said that they would no longer need my services because "things weren't just working out." I was literally speechless, so when I hadn't said anything for a few seconds, she hung up on me. I called the manager in a panic, thinking that these guys were just trying to get me fired, but nope. Not a joke. Jim told me that they had all confronted him and said that they didn't think it was going to work out. He even went to the owner to see what he should do and Rich said that the team comes first. I'd only worked there for two weeks! I was still in training! I hadn't even been allowed to sell! So, with in a week, I had been let go from two jobs.
I was in a panic. I called Robert first, gasping and sobbing that AE had let me go. I can't remember most of the conversation I had with Robert, but I'm pretty sure all that happened was that he told me to calm down and got me under control again. The next person I called was Jean, my former manager at Zales and one of my best friends. She was not only shocked, but disgusted with AE. I do remember that she told me not to do anything rash and to take time to calm down and that everything would be fine. She also called me back that night when I had calmed down to get the details. My two best friends, Steph and Nicky, also called me and spent the night at our apartment. I was glad that they came to be with me when I really needed it.
The following day, after Nicky and Steph had left, I got to work on my laptop to find a job. Any job. However, I struck gold on the first try.
Convergys had a billboard out on highway 41 and I found a site that was advertising for their new job openings. I applied, got a call the same day, took an assessment test online, got another call and got an interview.
I went in for the interview and got hired. I'm starting a paid training class tomorrow morning that goes on Monday thru Friday for three weeks. I'll be handling customer technical issues for AT&T over the phone. I'll be getting 30-35 hours per week, $10 an hour with $1 per hour extra on weekends and holiday pay.
Only thing is it's up in Appleton. It's not a far drive, but I'm commuting again.
So, that's what's going on in my life. I hope that Convergys works out!
