Most of the journals will log the big updates and feelings of the times. I plan to look back on these in the future. Some large change affecting our lives now usually often turns into something we rarely think about.
Avatar Styles

Just organizing some thoughts here. I might make a thread to ask for second opinions on the matter.

In my opinion, there really aren't many categories of styles on Gaia. There are many subcategories...

All styles have varying degrees of layering from simple to cluttered.
Many styles can blend together so avatars can fit into more than one category.

Matching: A style where the user focuses on achieving overall balance by using equal amounts of matching shades.
> Halfatar: An advanced category. Users create two separate matching looks on one avatar and attempt to have each look make up half the avatar.
> Powerclash: A matching avatar that uses clashing colors.
> Monochrome: Instead of matching 2 or more colors, users make a whole avatar by matching the subtle shades and tones of one color.

Non-matching: A style where a user relies on texture. The user also uses various shades of at least one color to achieve overall balance.
> Real life avatars will most often fall in this category since people don't always walk around matching their brown hair and green eyes.

Cosplay: A style where a user takes what is usually a popular character and attempt to recreate it using Gaia items.

Theme: A very wide-ranging category since users can dress up in many different themes. The user does not recreate an actual well known character, but recreates a stereotypical character.
Popular themes: Gangsta, Pirate, Ninja, Steampunk, Animal, Angelic, Demonic, Pokemon Trainer

Abstract Blob: A special form of avatar where the avatar looks like it's a swirling mass/ball of some sort of substance. No human shape. No recognizable form. Just a Blob.

Inanimate Objects/Scenic Avatars: A user attempts to create a scene. The original avatar is hidden and/or turned into some other object. It is usually not the focal point of the avatar since monkeys, godzillas and other such companions are often added.

Gradient: A style where the user uses items to achieve a fade effect on the avatar. This includes fading from white to black, from light blue to dark blue and rainbow.

"i am": While not considered to be creative, it still belongs in its own category. Users use an Iam pose. These avatars typically use only one pose since i am poses are not versatile. Sometimes some items might not be hidden by an i am pose so users take advantage of those items to look more unique.
i am poses are more popular in the Virtual Spaces where users can hop around as bunnies, run like a wolf, or bounce like bacon.

Color Splash: A rarely seen style. Users dress in one color and then add a splash of a different color. The splash color can be found anywhere from the eyes to a handheld. This isn't matching since it's not balanced. It has a specific focal point. It's not non-matching enough and lacks the same balance that non-matching avatars have. I think it gets its own style.
