So yeah, the cult of Ion.

They want to become immortal, like Ion, but for their own selfish reasons. They train their bodies and minds to be cold and emotionless like he is known for. A few even have had surgery to get their emotions removed, though it's a dangerous procedure and they retain their selfish attitudes even if they survive.

They want to capture Ion and study him to discover a way to become immortal, Ion is directly opposed to since they couldn't be killed and would no doubt do immoral things. Plus while captured he couldn't stop anything bad from happening or do his work.

So yeah, they worship him, but not his ideals, and he wants to destroy them.
