Prologue: Hazelock was out exploring a mirage-like island which hosted many networks of ancient ruins. In truth, he crashed his airship into it due to a sudden piercing headache that prevented him to pilot the machine. Later that week, he found a path that lead to the center of the ruins, which he had spotted before he crashed since it was the highest point, and made his way up the ruins. When he emerged from the ruins, he was at the top. In the center of the tower was a shrine with two symbols, each seeming to clash with each other.

As he walked closer, the starry night seemed to illuminate ever further, as if the essence of the ruins where re-awakening. As he stepped onto the pedestal in the center, the two symbols started to glow. One ice blue, the other, blood red. A statue that had been inanimate had suddenly come to life, stepping forward. It was a birdlike statue, but with legs and arms. It stopped, and three other statues came to life, both repeating what the last did. When they all where aligned, they raised their arms in sync. A great beam of energy swept across Hazelock. He felt as if his mind were being ripped in half.

The last thing he remembered was hitting the stone floor, and seeing to shadowy figures standing on either side of him.
