Kitsu The Angel of Death- by Hikaru4Ever852
~~~Part 1~~~
He stood in the corner of the room with a blank expression dressed in a long black jacket that tied at his throat and ended at his ankles, his silver hair typed back so he looked professtional for once, and his emerald eyes watched a mother give birth with the father holding her hand tightly. No one knew that he was there, he was just a non existent- an Angel of Death. He has seen in front of him numerous amount times that he lost track, this one was no different.
"Mikoto! You're doing great! Just hang on a bit longer!" Fugaku said holding his wife's hand tightly.
"Yes you are ma'am, just one more push and both twins will be born," the doctor said at the end of the bed.
"D-Doctor Kaze... I-I don't think she'll-"
"She'll make it... just keep calm..." his face narrowed in concern as he tried to stay on his task.
Fugaku looked up, onyx eyes full of worry as he scanned the nurse's face. "What are you saying woman?" His question was interuppted when Mikoto squeezed his hand tighter than ever and a scream echoed through the room.
Kitsu watched the doctor gather the baby to his chest, working his fingers past light blue lips and into a small mouth. "Nurse!" he shouted with a large tone a panick and the baby was snatched from his arms. The silver haired angle followed the nurse as she moved across the room and placed the small baby girl under a heating lamp. Several more doctors seemed to rush into the room and gathered around the table. Stepping to the front of the table, Kitsu moved his pale hand over the child and smiled at the few wispy locks of black hair that lay on her head. All that he had to do was touch the baby and the newborn would never take her first breath, her weak heartbeat silenced forever.
Ignoring the constant chattering of the medical staff, and the more and more hysterical yells of the baby's father, Kitsu gave in to temptation and ran the pad of his thumb over the baby's forehead gently.
The moment that his didget brushed the slightly damp, raven black silk, the baby's eyes snapped open. Curious, midnight orbs locked with his own emerald green, and Kitsu would have said the girl was looking right at him if he didn't know that was impossible. After only a second of staring at each other, an umcomfortable tingle ran through his body with such intensity that Kitsu was forced to remove his hand away from the infant.
He stepped back, eyes wide, and brought his hand to his chest. "Not possible," he whispered, looking up at the ceiling as though an answer would be written there from heaven itself. One of the nurses held a small bag over the baby's mouth and Kitsu heard the doctor comment on the baby's improving status. When he looked back down, the baby's innocent eyes still followed him and a small, pale hand reached toward him. "Not f.ucking possible," Kitsu repeated and stepped back.
The baby started screaming and crying.
"Is the baby okay? Someone tell us what is happening!" Fugaku demanded and a nurse turned and smiled brilliantly.
"It's a girl and she gave us a bit of a scare, but she is going to be fine with your new son as well."
"Oh, thank God," the Uchiha replied and bent down to kiss his wife. "Did you hear, Mikoto? A boy and a girl! You did wonderful. I love you, I love you."
The genle-eyed woman turned her face into his kisses. "Fugaku," she began with a tired smile, "I lov…"
Machines blared to life once more and all the doctors and nurses looked toward the baby until Fugaku began frantically calling his wife's name. Within five minutes, the babies and the father were removed from the room. In ten minutes, the doctor removed his gloves, glancing sadly at the clock on the wall, and called the time of death for Mikoto Uchiha.
No one saw Kitsu remove his hand from Mikoto's forehead and disappear as a shocked Fugaku was let back into the room. But, in his defense, no one ever saw an Angel of Death.
Until today.
~~~Part 2~~~

Kitsu passed through the main gate and into Heaven, heading strait to something he really didn't want to deal with at the time. But there was really no choice in the manner, he headed strait to the front desk.

Soft laughter filled the bright white office and Kitsu glared at the silver-haired man behind the desk. He was dressed all in white with his bare feet propped up on his dove white desk. The only source of color in the room were an orange book (Kitsu knew that is wasn't Heaven- approved) and the man's bright blue eyes.

"Should you be reading that book?" Kitsu asked annoyed by his boss and older brother's behavior.

"Shouldn't you be collecting every soul assigned to you Kitsu?" the man gave him a cold look. "Sit. You're causing a major screw up for everyone,"

His emerald eyes scanned the room for a chair and he pulled one up in front of the desk. "Screw up? What the f.uck are you talking about?"

"Two Kitsu. I asked you to get two souls. And what do you come back with? One. Do I need to remind you how to count?"

"I know how to count damnit,"

"And yet...one,"

"..." there was only dead silence in the room.

"It was the baby okay? She-she fought me... I couldn't collect her soul," he spat.

Yukio shook his head and placed his book on the desk and brought his feet down. "Not possilbe Little Brother. Babies can't fight. There are adults who can't fight getting their soul collected,"

"It-it get's worse Onii- san..."

"How can it get worse? Do you know how much paper work you loaded me with?"

"...she saw me..."

"Again, not possible. No one can see u-"

"She f.ucking saw me damnit! She was staring right at me and reached at to me! I know she saw me! When I was out of her sight she started crying" he shouted, glaring emerald met calm blue.

Yukio's palms fell with a crack against his desk and his face became serious. "You were sent for two souls and only brought home one. This isn't a learning experience, Aristole. This is a major f.uck up. You have no idea that having an unplanned soul wandering around will cause loads of problems. This stuff just doesn't happen!"

Out of rage, Kitsu slammed down his hands on the desk as well. "Then send someone else to go and get her soul!"

"You know I can't do that! Every collection has paperwork behind it. You were sent to collect Tsuki Uchiha's soul on July 23. You f.ucked up. No other paperwork assigning another angel has crossed my desk."

"I'll try again,"

"No, you won't." Yukio slid out a drawer and pulled out a white folder before tossing it across the desk at Kitsu. He opened it, realizing it was his 'job list'. Hundreds of names were listed and the baby's was no where on it.

"I don't understand," Kitsu said, snapping the file shut and glaring at Yukio.

"Your case is being reviewed."

"My case?"

"This goes higher than me, Kitsu. You know, God's plan and all that. I filled out a report and sent it Up."

"And until then? What do I do? What about the ba… Tsuki?" his voice caught over the name and his eyes widen. Now that he said it, he'd never forget it. His looked at Yukio and the silver-haired angel grinned back at him, laughter clear in his blue eyes.

He leaned way back in his chair and settled his feet on his desk once again and opened his book and shrugged. "You do your job. This Tsuki lives on stolen time and we wait for your case to come back with an explanation and judgment."

"And about what you were so concerned about a moment before?"

Never taking his eyes from his book, Yukio waved one careless hand toward the ceiling. "It's Their problem now."

~~~Part 3~~~
Kitsu watched, with his fists clinched at his sides, while the Uchiha man stood over his son and daughter's crib and cursed the red-faced child, blaming her for Mikoto's death, wishing she was the one who had died instead. But moments later, the proud man would scoop the baby up, holding her against his chest while his legs gave out and he slipped to the floor. He listened while Fuhgaku apologized Tsuki -I didn't mean it, God, I- I'm so sorry- holding her gently, rocking and cuddling while he told her daughtrt how much he loed her and how everything will be okay.
Kitsu wondered many times, in the months that followed, what Fugaku would have done if things had gone as planned. What would he have done had he lost both his wife and child that day? Fugaku had no idea how lucky he was to have that precious little girl and boy. He had no idea the gift Tsuki had given him in his first moments of life. The other son, which Kitsu soon found out was called Sasuke. was kept at distant. Fugaku spent more time with Tsuki than the male twin.
Kitsu watched her little oddity grow and the whole time, and Tsuki watched him back.
There was no denying it. Tsuki could see him. She would flash a toothless, drool-filled, and disgustingly adorable smile whenever Kitsu appeared before her. He clapped and squeed in a language he didn't understand but that couldn't stop the smile that came to his lips whenever he heard it.
~6 Months Later~
Tsuki crawled for the first time when she was six months old. Fugaku sat on the floor and, out of pure coincidence, Kitsu appeared just as the little girl pushed herself up on her hands and knees and made her first jerky attempts at movement.
"Come on, girl, come on. Walk like Sasuke did the other day," Fugaku encouraged and Tsuki sucked on her lower lip in concentration before moving forward. Kitsu moved from where Tsuki was and went right next to Fugaku.
Tsuki froze for a moment before a huge smile… Kitsu's cocky smile… covered her face and she scuttled across the floor, straight for the surpirsed, light haired angel.
The baby stopped just within reach, and Kitsu held his breath. One chubby hand reached out, struggling to touch him, and he couldn't move. He didn't want to. Finally…
"Hey, you little drool monster," Fugaku pouted, "you missed me." And without another word, Tsuki was scooped up and snuggled against the Uchiha man's chest.
Tsuki cuddled into her father's shirt, dark wisps of hair falling on her face, but her eyes never left Kitsu and her small fingers still stretched out for him. Her lower lip trembled and the softest whimper escaped as she attempted a pout.
Aristole reached out, his hand moving slowly as if scared to touch the infant. Tsuki squirmed, reaching and stretching, fretting in her struggle, until finally, tiny fingers met long, pale ones.
Kitsu gasped and Tsuki stopped breathing.
It couldn't have been longer than a couple of seconds, but Kitsu couldn't move. The feeling was just...wonderful. Her small fingers latched onto his own and he told himself he was killing the baby, collecting her soul, but he couldn't move… it was impossible for him to let the child go...
"You falling asleep Tsuki? Maybe I should put you in your crib with Sasuke," the father spoke with a smile into Tsuki's bundle of hair when the child's head fell softly against his chest. "Tsuki?" He pulled the baby away from him and his daughter's small body fell limply forward, her lips blue like when she first bron. Panicked, he stood, yelling, "Tsuki- chan!"
The movement yanked Kitsu's finger free of Tsuki's small hold and right away the baby drew in a hopeless breath only to release it with a pitiful, weak cry. Her tiny lips still held a tinge of blue as Fugaku ran to gather Sasuke, placed on both child's coats, thanking the Lord Itachi was at school, and rushed out the front door.
The Albino angel stood in the living room, long minutes after he heard the car tearing down the driveway, and he pictured Tsuki, struggling to breath, her small chest failing to rise and take in air, but still trying to touch him...the man that could easily end her life.
Kitsu didn't come back for months out of pure fear.
