Her golden hair flew behind her as she ran. How did they catch on to me? She wondered. She ducked into the woods hoping the villagers would not follow. Oh please, hurry lady moon! She looked up at the sky. The sun was almost setting, they had picked the best time to attack her, when she could not change and out run them. She bit down hard on her lip muffling a yelp as she stubbed her toe on a rock. Blood sat lovingly on her tongue and she focused on its metallic taste to try to drown out the pain. Her eyes continued to drift back to the sky like a child watches a clock waiting for the lunch bell to ring. She could hear the men quickly approaching, but they were wearing shoes, they didn't have to worry about cutting their feet open on sharp stones or branches. She could slowly feel the change coming upon her. oh please rise faster! She begged the moon as she began to get a stitch in her side and feel short of breath. She stopped running and tried to catch her breath and remove the stitch from her side, the men approaching quite quickly now. Just as they were about to reach her the transformation hit her and she howled to the moon goddess as she changed. As soon as her front paws hit the ground she was off, dashing in and out of trees and loosing the men quickly. She knew she couldn't return to that village, she would have to travel all night to find a safer one.
Now...
She set the pastries on the counter to cool, made sure there was still coffee in the pot before she walked around her little Cafe. It was small but since she was the only one working it suited her quite well. She lived upstairs above the shop which was very convenient, on nights when she couldn't sleep she would come down here to bake. So had made so many lovely creations in the darkness, mostly made from bitter dark chocolate. She circled around the room, coffee pot in hand, greeting her regulars and refilling cups as they were needed.
