Zack "Cross" Averdale (black): A genetically-engineered pyromancer born in the labs of Avercorp. Also a singer and guitarist, best known for his stint as the frontman of Swineheart. Has a psychotic persona known as Alter Zack which is a result of neurosurgery. Can be extremely temperamental and violent sometimes, and rather spastic at others, but is extremely caring, loyal, and even affectionate.
Invocatus (dimgray): Zack's strongest familiar, an amalgamation of all his minor familiars. Usually takes the form of a nine-foot-tall knight wielding a sword and shield. Is sentient and shows humanlike intelligence as well.
Blackthorn (indigo): Zack's ill-tempered former familiar/adopted younger sister, who is the image and namesake of Zack's deceased beloved Mia Blackthorn. She is a decently powerful aeromancer but her violent temper and all-around mental instability overshadow this. Has an irrational hatred of Bonnie, and of fish.
Blaine Callahan (sienna): One of Zack's teammates from long ago, a cowboy wannabe with exceptional aim. After the presumed deaths of Zack and Alex, Blaine was overwhelmed by feelings of guilt and began drinking and doing drugs. Alice and Zack have unsuccessfully attempted to put him in rehab. Filthy, rude, extremely stubborn and a terrible singer, he tends to annoy people he meets.
Trevor Green (darkblue): A drummer and police officer best known as one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Swineheart. Joined law enforcement while Swineheart went on hiatus, then together with Zack got kicked out over a dispute between law enforcement and hospital management. Also happens to be a good baker.
Blair Arden (orangered): Best known as the lead guitarist, keyboard player, backing vocalist and occasional bassist of the now-defunct power metal group Starpike. Is good friends with Zack and Trevor, and is secretly working with them on a new project.
Lucian Farrow (blue): A light user and former knight of the Ordo Solaris. Manipulative, bitter, vengeful and mistrustful of most people due to his upbringing, and also rather perverted. Since his removal from the Order, he has wandered about without much of an agenda other than to, out of spite, wreck the lives of several people he knows.
Novena (steelblue): A stray familiar whom Lucian adopted, resembling an angel or a Valkyrie. Has grown slavishly loyal to her master, doing whatever gruesome task he has for her and constantly laying her life on the line for him. Nonetheless, is a little silly, wants to have fun battles, and loves Blondie.
Vlad (tomato): A doctor who has had his license revoked due to his perceived incompetence and mental instability. Is extremely sadistic and knowledgeable in ways of inflicting pain on others. Has formed an alliance with Lucian, who supplies him with new torture victims.
Clair Averdale (darkturquoise): Victor Averdale's ninth experiment, a scythe-wielding pyromancer with abilities similar to Zack's. Made out of some DNA taken from Lucullus Farrow, Lucian's father, and is thus something of Zack and Lucian's sister. Deemed to be a disappointment due to her lack of killer instinct, she was abandoned by Victor. Extremely timid and soft-spoken, and tends to end up in the wrong company.
Arya Altair (firebrick): Alex Altair's adopted sister and the young leader of the Organization. Discovered her ability to control flames after fighting off some bullies at the orphanage where she was raised. Rude, arrogant, ill-tempered, demanding, and violent, she is feared and disliked by most people.
Kaiser (gray): Arya's mammoth of a familiar. Between fifteen and seventeen feet tall, he appears to be half-knight and half-dragon, and is covered entirely in thick armor. Wields a formidable mortar launcher and can breathe fire. Shows signs of sentience, but will usually only act upon Arya's command.
Alex Altair (navy): The current head of the Altair clan, and one of the strongest pyromancers in his hometown. An old friend of Zack's, he had been in a coma after a cataclysmic battle with him against Victor Averdale, which tragically ended in the destruction of the Blackthorn clan. Arya's second-in-command and adoptive older brother.
Arjuna (silver): The soul of a sixth-century Hindu warrior, who remains stuck in a state of limbo due to his indeterminate balance of goodness and wickedness. He has a contract with the Altair clan which allows him a temporary corporeal form in exchange for servitude to the current head. Knows that he cannot be killed or even hurt by conventional means, and is extremely arrogant because of this.
Constantine Dimas (sandybrown): The son of Macedonian immigrants, a soldier and geomancer who is part of The Organization. Usually projects himself to be the strong, silent type. Picks on Dylan all the time due to his perceived lack of manliness.
Dylan Warren (royalblue): The aquamancer of The Organization. Constantly bullied by Arya and Constantine due to his perceived weakness. Is madly in love with Arya, but obviously his feelings are not reciprocated. Is in college studying to be a chemist.
Iskander (lightsalmon): Dylan's familiar, some sort of fish/merman/kelpie-like creature. Like his master, he is considered a failure among the ranks of The Organization. Despite his seeming lack of intelligence and combat prowess, he is extremely affectionate, and Dylan dotes on him.
Soma (mediumslateblue): The younger of two mercenary twins who has been endowed with tremendous physical and magical strength, including resistance to many spells. Is usually silent and rarely shows emotion, hiding a streak of cruelty.
Psyche (mediumorchid): Soma's twin sister, who is older than him by a few seconds. Suffers from some bad luck, and believes it is a twins' curse. Is still a fairly powerful ice mage and seems cold and inaccessible to strangers. Nonetheless, she cares deeply about and loves her brother, who clearly does not reciprocate her feelings.
Scourge (rosybrown): Soma's familiar and true partner in all things. A mid-level Mind Linker, he is capable of protecting Soma from most mental attacks while tormenting some of his opponents. Often assists Soma in secretly making Psyche's life miserable.
Eric (burlywood): An irritable storekeeper who carries a baseball bat around just to beat annoying storegoers. Despises kids and animals, especially when they enter his store. Has been recruited into Soma's crew by Scourge.
Devin Gale (darkslateblue): A chaos elemental who wears a necklace that converts entropy to other elemental energy, allowing him to use attacks of every element. Is violent, temperamental and hates most of the world. Particularly dislikes people he considers weaker than himself, especially those who use firearms. Often abuses Melvin. Nonetheless, he tolerates Clair, respects Zack and has a soft spot for Verne.
Verne Valentine (crimson): A mercenary/hitwoman known for her deadly aim with her revolver. Has a weakness for roses and romance, and loves to read when she's not on missions. Is currently Devin's girlfriend. Fabio is her older brother.
Cipher (darkorange): The enigmatic head and father figure of the Exterminators. A middle-aged man with an eyepatch over his right eye. Handles mostly administrative duties, but seems capable of combat.
Drake Venn (slategray): The top-ranked Exterminator and Cipher's son. Uses a rapier and an assortment of shadow spells in battle. Is rarely seen due to the fact that he gets the most difficult and dangerous missions. Has a scar over his right eye, which his hair covers.
Quentin Nash (peru): The Second (but self-proclaimed Ninth) of the Exterminators and, despite his spastic and carefree nature, arguably the strongest among them. Once wanted to play in the NFL, but this dream was shattered when he accidentally revealed his earth powers during a tryout. Perceived by many to be little more than a stupid muscle-bound womanizer, but is a strong, durable and decently skilled warrior. Also plays bass guitar.
Lucretia Swann (teal): The Fifth of the Exterminators, and Alice's friend. Known for her skill with throwing knives and her extreme absent-mindedness causing her to forget to bring them to missions half the time. Is a bit of a flirt, and falls easily for cute boys. Works at a demon pet store, and often sells Zack goods at a discounted price.
Alice Altair (darkslategray): The Sixth of the Exterminators. Is Alex Altair's younger sister and constantly feels inferior to him. She is extremely close to Zack, who is something of her adoptive older brother. Has some of the worst luck around due to the dickery of the creators. Currently has a contract with Lamia that gives her heightened power; this sudden increase in power has led most of her friends and colleagues to mistrust her.
Alyssa Weaver (mediumvioletred): The Seventh of the Exterminators. A former nurse who had been removed from her job thanks to the shenanigans of the creators. Is employed by the Exterminators despite her seeming lack of special ability or combat aptitude. Has little tolerance for chaos and disorder; nonetheless, she is in love with Speed.
Zeta (violet): The infamous leader of the kawaii and Zack's butler. Once was a robotic clone of Zack, but contact with the Staff of Kawaii transformed him into a magical warrior of justice. Is flamboyantly gay, flirts with everyone he sees, insists on kawaiifying everyone and everything, has terrible taste in music and brings no end of trouble to Zack's household and to everyone around him in general. No description can do this creature justice. XD
Z-chan (magenta): Zeta's right-hand (wo)man, the driver of the Kawaiimobile and one of his many objects of affection. Despite her affiliation with the kawaii, she is often moody, visibly hates being with Zeta, and despises Justin Bieber and Ke$ha while preferring Katy Perry and the Foo Fighters. She is among the more sane and competent warriors of kawaii.
Sylvia Thrall (purple): A grenade-throwing maid who fights for justice and kawaii, or at least tries to. Is exceedingly timid and afraid of pretty much everything, and has a particular dislike for sharp objects and patchwork dolls (due to her encounter with the Speedy doll). Makes good cupcakes, which she wants everyone to taste.
The Chorus of Singing Dongs (pink): A group of kawaii lice that got their name due to their tendency to inhabit those regions and cause them to glow with their song. Extremely resistant to medicines and general efforts to kill them. Their trademark song is The Chordettes' "Mister Sandman".
Fabio (indianred): The butler of the kawaii. Once the frontman of the now-defunct glam metal/Bon Jovi tribute group We Are Flowers, which was notorious for generally being bad. Is Verne's older brother, and a great embarrassment to her.
Zippy (darkred): A lava golem created by Martin Gale in order to wreak havoc on the general female population. Possesses great physical strength, can reassemble himself after taking damage, and is skilled with ropes and other restraints. Extremely perverted and tries to have his way with every woman he meets, though Ellie has somewhat tamed him.
Bramble (goldenrod): A sexually predatory scarecrow who was created by Martin to be Zippy's partner in crime. Extremely filthy and full of bugs. Though weak in battle and extremely flammable, she is scheming and manipulative. Tries to take advantage of every male she sees. Has some sort of twisted rivalry with Zippy.
Gargaroth (brown): A forest troll endowed with exceptional strength and stupidity. Carries a metal club, some rocket launchers, and a laser, among other things. Infamous for constantly crying "KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL", murdering the unicorns around him, and generally being a danger to anyone lost in the forest. Has become more dangerous after Vernin gave him new weaponry.
The Legion of Armored Duckies (olive): A ragtag crew of rubber ducks that became sentient due to experiments performed on them by one of the children at the orphanage where they used to live. They, tired of being squeezed incessantly, have since escaped, acquired powerful weaponry, gone about fighting Magic Schoolgirl Zeta, and been punted several times.
Tako (orange): A giant octopus that has been able to adapt to land with the help of a jetpack that allows it to move freely. Is constantly hungry and attempts to eat almost everything it sees, but can be affectionate to people who are nice to it. Is currently Kitty’s pet.
Melvin Melman (darkgray): Another hotdog vendor who peddles his wares at the Battledome. Has no special powers whatsoever, though may use a chain of hotdogs as a weapon. Is actually mentally unhinged and believes he is married to a woman named “Honey” and constantly professes his love for her, though investigation has revealed that this “woman” is actually nothing more than a broomstick. Knows Adam.
Jarko Warheim (midnightblue): Gargaroth’s civilized, urbanized distant cousin. Has a job as a computer programmer in the city. Is an avid fan of video games and comics, McDonalds, and an expert on internet trolling.
Luther Kaulitz (powderblue): A professor of mathematics and ice mage whose life's goal is to create a never-ending hailstorm based on the rules of the Collatz sequence. Once travelled with Lucian, but after Mitsuki showed him Lucian's evil disposition he abandoned their team, thus becoming a wanted man. Is a close friend of Martin's.
Yellow Raven (gold): A superheroine wannabe with neither any real power nor skill. Has schoolgirl crushes on Mechanical Phoenix, Clockwork Cerberus and Justice Pink.
Apples (red): One of Martin's creations, who was born from an apple. Is allergic to practically anything that isn't an apple, and has several spells that deal with apples. May seem moody and irritable at first, but really doesn't want to hurt anyone. May have feelings for Ornias.
Marlene Blackthorn (palevioletred): The last of the surviving Blackthorns, who was thought to have perished six years ago. As a child, she was taken by Victor Averdale, who felt that it would be a waste to kill her due to her magical ability. Was tasked to destroy her own clan but failed at it, and fell at the hands of Alex Altair.
Martin Gale (blueviolet): A Random Event, a guardian of realms with powers involving chaos and randomness. Laid-back and rather mischievous, he prefers not to interfere in the affairs of the other characters directly, but instead send them random "gifts" in the form of new and whimsically generated creatures.
