Poppy's History
During the era in which humans would be forced underground by Lordgenome and the beastmen, there had been an influential clan known as the Machina.

The clan was widely known to be made up of arrogant people who were descended from a line of utmost strict pedigree. From the foundation of the Machina, they desired what they considered to be the purest and most ideal form held in their genetic line.

They were treated like nobles, and lived in luxury from the ingenious engineering success of their forefathers who had patented and sold early robotics designs for a great sum.

The time came when the beastmen invasion occurred. Instead of fighting back, the capable beings of the Machina chose to try and salvage their wealth and defend their grand manors. Some were out trying to take over the government during the ensuing chaos, leaving their clan’s small forces weaker in their separation.

Slaughter occurred, and though much power had been carefully bred into their natural system, decades of an easygoing spoiled lifestyle as well as bossing and bullying other people around with their vast influence had caused their ‘highly cultivated Spiral Energy DNA’ to be firmly locked away. The people of the Machina could not tap into their Spiral Energy, and it was obvious that they would all be eradicated. Such weak willing beings were resigned to their ultimate fate.

They were the first to be targeted by the beastmen due to the dangerous potential in their DNA that could be easily detected by the Anti-Spiral if even a single person of the Machina used their Spiral Energy to their fullest potential, which none had ever done prior to being murdered by beastmen.

However, in the incredibly deep wine cellar of the main manor, a young heiress lurked about, tasting rich liquors and fine brandy as her revenge from being barred from an adults’ party on the grounds that she was too young for the beverages that they served there. So deeply was the cooled chamber constructed into the Earth’s depth that she was unaware of the widespread havoc that raged on the surface along with the systematic eradication of her clan.

This young drunk Machina maiden, known as Pompey Melanull Machina, saw a red X marked trapdoor sealed by thick rusty chains long weakened by age. It was a forbidden area, but she tugged the chains off anyway and descended the staircase inside the wine cellar.

To her drunken delight, the stair steps were carved from ice! As she descended the length, with every step she took down, the temperature dropped, gradually becoming a bitter chill. Warmed by the rich spirits that she had imbibed, the girl could hardly feel it and continued to walk downwards, envisioning even greater alcoholic delights that awaited her.

Pompey soon came upon a small chamber with ceiling, walls, and floor of dazzling mirror-like ice (Though the lass, being unable to feel any cold, assumed it was diamonds and was merely disappointed to discover that the coffin-sized space was devoid of any special wine and such). At this point, every time she exhaled, her breath froze and sprinkled down into tiny puffs of snow. Her thoughts were beginning to become sluggish, and she was too intoxicated and slowed down by the freezing temperature to realize how affected she was. In such a beautiful, contained chamber, why not take a small nap? In her dumbed, happy stupor, she lay down upon the floor and was soon claimed by the preserving effects of the deep cold. She would not be discovered for many years.

These structures were crafted by the original founders of the Machina clan, the clever engineers that instilled the strong sense of superiority and desire for innate and outer perfection that brought Pompey to be what she was now. They had known of the Anti-Spiral during their time, and created a cleverly hidden space that could preserve and deep freeze a human safely for extended periods.

These founders sealed it off and left instructions to their descendents to use this when the ultimate perfected being had finally been bred. That ultimate being was to be frozen for lifetimes in case the planet was brought upon by ruin and released when the Anti-Spiral had finally died out, allowing the perfected Machinan to restore the human race to it’s former Spiral Energy fueled glory with the pool of survivors that had survived the hypothetical purge of the Anti-Spiral.

These instructions were kept safe on a marble tablet until somewhere in the Machina clan’s third generation, a member of the clan had accidentally broken it beyond repair in a wild frat boy party incident. (Later Machinan descendants could not figure out what the chained trapdoor in the cellar led to or what its purpose collectively voted to let it be.)

And that was that.

Such a sustained period of time within her icy coffin would have normally left her memory intact, but alas, the combination of the deep freeze and the state that her brain was in from being piss drunk at the time ended up sealing away the memories of her life.

Her personality would be the same when she finally emerged, but who she was and the legacy of the strong Spiral Energy potential embedded within her DNA would be information stuffed into the back of the freezer in her brain. Still preserved, but long forgotten.
