Nothing good ever came from visiting large cities where so many people crammed themselves into such small places. They were loud; often times dirty, and were full of less than reputable people. It was easy to blend and fade away into the crowd, yes, but there were also more people keeping their eyes out for those who tried to fade away. Sighing with a less than pleased demeanor about her, twenty year old Luka Anne Winnicott stepped quietly out of a carrier ship and onto the dock, shielding her dark eyes from the sun that assaulted them. Lounge Town…what an ugly place. Luka usually made a habit of staying away from large places like this not only because there were more police, but also because she generally found the noise they always generated to be annoying. Loud people and even louder machines…two things she probably could have lived without. Unfortunately, things were getting a little tight and Luka needed to find good work quickly. This was the best and nearest place to do so, and she would leave just as soon as her business was through. The sooner that happened, the better.

An older gentleman called to her from inside the ship where the light from the sun had not yet begun to reach. He was somewhat large and was wearing a blue uniform that labeled him as a part of the crew. It was a man named James, if she remembered correctly, who worked in the engine room. He was quite the flirt, too. “Sure you don’t want to stick around? Pretty thing like yourself would be welcome here anytime.” Luka only laughed dryly before turning back away from the man.

“Pretty things like me are nothin’ but trouble, old man.” Before the man had a chance to respond, Luka noticed that her things were being brought out carefully. She had a rather large and abused trunk with two separate compartments in it – the larger one on the bottom held all her guns necessary equipment that was required to keep them in good form and was locked at all times. The second held her clothing and other personal items. Strapped to the top of the trunk, there was a beige colored plastic box with holes in its side, and a screen door on the end. The side of the box read with very messily written letters painted with black paint “Free Cat”. Unfortunately, it tended to turn people away when, if they approached the little cage, a horrid screeching or hissing sound would come from the little carrier, after which it would start shaking wildly like there was some sort of evil hurricane inside. Saving the little kitten’s life was the biggest mistake of Luka’s life. Seriously.

She sighed and tried not to concentrate on the little demon that seemed to be asleep at the moment. Instead, she focused on where to go next. The crew had kindly placed her things on a board with wheels attached to it so she could pull it around with little trouble. There was no way in hell she could carry it around otherwise given its size and weight. They told her that she could use it as far as the storage business down the road, where they would go to pick it up later before they left the docks. It was better than nothing, even if Luka didn’t like the idea of having to pay a storage fee. The passage fee for the voyage liner she’d arrived on already nearly charged her and arm and a leg. There really didn’t seem to be much point in arguing. The Storage locker was the first place she went. They took the trunk, and after enough convincing, they accepted the cat as well. The little devil cost an extra ten percent. After relieving herself of her luggage, the dark haired woman went to exploring town.

She ran a hand through her hair calmly when she noticed how hot it was and she wondered if it would get much worse as the day progressed. If it got too warm, she would probably tie the long dark locks up in a quick pony tail if she had to, but for now, she figured it was just fine. She wasn’t dressed too warmly, so hopefully it wouldn’t be a problem. Her black tank top was long but thin, and was also torn to shreds in the back giving it a sort of “edgy’ feel to it, though it really got that way because of the damn cat. Her jeans were a size too big as usual and were held up by the only belt she owned. The most noticeable thing on the young woman was her gun.

Most possibly the finest, most expensive thing she owned, the antique Bisley was well cleaned and in good shape, despite it being far older than she was. The few glimpses of metal that could be seen shone in the harsh sunlight as she walked, while the rest was safely hidden away from the eyes of those who would try to take it by a securely tightened holster that wrapped around her thigh and also looped around her belt at the top to keep it from falling from her long legs. If one listened closely, they could hear the small pieces of metal clinking against each other in the leather holster. It wasn’t the only weapon on her at the moment, but it was by far her favorite. Luka would even go far enough to say that she felt naked when she didn’t have it, which wasn’t often. Several people stared at the weapon as she passed by, but none of them approached her.

Luka hadn’t ever been here before, so she didn’t exactly know what sort of jobs she’d be able to find that would suit her…skills, let alone where she might find them. She supposed the best thing to do would be to just wander around town and keep her eyes out for a help wanted bulletin. There probably wouldn’t be too many different things around town that she would be able to do or would even want to do. The woman wasn't exactly interested in what some people would call mundane work. She didn't do physical labor, nor did she build or cook. No. Luka's expertise lied in something much more specific. She was quick, smart, and no one could beat her in a test of marksmanship. Sense leaving home, there had been a lot of things most people would look down upon that she had done. That was alright, though. What else was she supposed to do?
