Serene: To the General Public At Last
A few pieces of Ser's thoughts and life, which are carefully broken down from her life mosaic and preserved into this online journal. Read with care.
Hotels and Shirtless Receptionists
I went on a vacation with my cousin's family! C: We visited the south of Taiwan, where the outside was like some kind of oven. My dad's actually from the south. It was similar to Taipei, only less crowded with less lights. There were less shops and a tiny nightmarket. But the scenery is very good and there is a nice tropical feeling around the bottom peak of Taiwan. We even bought coconuts and drank out of them. During our first day, we stayed at a nice hotel and biked around Kaohsiung. On our second day, my uncle had planned to stay at this huge super-extravagant hotel that looked more like some kind of palace. But then they realized that it was just too expensive, so my cousin stepped up to research from her cellphone. "It looked prettier in their advertisements!" was what she wailed when we mistakenly drove past the hotel she had picked. We missed it because she had previously described it was "a very tall building". Instead, it was a dingy-looking two-story motel situated right above this pub. My cousin's face was so hilarious. My aunt looked terrified to death. My uncle was annoyed at the owner of the hotel, who he had called earlier. He had lost the money my uncle had sent, and sort of waved it off.

In the end the money issues were solved, and we went in. We climbed to the second floor to be greeted by a shirtless receptionist. We went in our rooms, just as the curtain for the bath fell down. There was a large brownish-red stain on the curtains, which my aunt thought was blood. XD At night, the pub was booming with music. Being directly underneath my room, the walls shook with the beats combined with the announcer's voice.

Right now I'm at Taipei, and also in the same city as Lady Gaga! If you are not familiar to Taiwan, you will have no idea how much Taiwan LOVES Lady Gaga. I think last year, the craze started. In fact, I think that Taiwan loves Lady Gaga more than the US. Last year, my cousin told me that her classmate played one of her songs during class. Everyone had protested against it strongly. By the end of it, all of the guys had turned into fanboys and were bringing Lady Gaga posters to hang in class. XD Recently, Lady Gaga is exploding over the television news channels. I haven't seen such upheaval since Michael Jackson died. It's really quite cute how much Taiwan loves Lady Gaga. The fans were absolutely devastated when Gaga went directly to her hotel upon arriving, instead of greeting them at first. They were so devastated, in fact, that Gaga noticed and waved to them from her hotel room. XD It's so crazy how she has such a huge fanbase here. Even the government officials have dubbed July 3 as "Lady Gaga Day".

The government officials.
