This is a 2 entry update. One will be posted shortly after this one
So where have I been? Hiding? Away? Dead? Well, a little of both at certain times, I presume.
In the last weeks, I've been filled with school work. Not only did I have all those exams to study for, I had no 1, not 2 but 3 contests that I signed in.
Contest number 1: Called "My School adopts a Museum". Never knew it was a contest untill I finished it. Basically a school group goes to a Museum and does some random work in it to present for the contest. In my group, we drew on raw tiles ( Since it was the National Museum of Tiles ) several biblical events ( Since we were with my English teacher ).
Contest number 2: "The Strongers Link". Has nothing to do with the famous contest "The Weakest Link". A Q&A contest about Easter and the bibilical events that ocurred during that time. Again organized by my English teacher. My team won last year ( With money as prize, yay! ) and this year, not only did we have to memorize +200 questions, we also had new rounds like guessing the name of a religious painting or doing Mimics.
Yes, it sounds boring but the fun is in the interaction between the teams. Anyways, my team ended up last on the contest. Not really our fault, although I congratulate the team that won 1st place (They're in our class as well). They changed alot of stuff on the contest in the last minute and that ended up ruining the fun.
Still, I really liked my last place prize ( Alot of knick-knacks, one big tennis ball and one sponge rugby ball. I kept some knick-knacks and the rugby ball )
Contest number 3: The most important to me and the reason my team didn't work very hard for the second contest. This one is called "Webmaster2006" and it's organized by Microsoft itself! The rules are simple: Build a site based on the topics they give you. You may only use Microsoft tools like Frontpage, although for the visual part you can use any tool.
Even if I don't win this contest, it may be very important for my future. Something in informatic like programming is my career of choice and have something for my portfolio when I try to get a job with a magnitude as Microsoft contest is extreme.
My team ( "Shark Team". We were also called that in the second contest ) did a Class Journal.
Now here's the hard part: We only had 2 weeks. During those weeks we had the exams and all previously mentioned contest. Plus, we never made a site before and didn't know how. So in less than two weeks we had to design, get the tools, learn how to use them and then code the site. The designing was easy. I did it and web graphics are my forte. Now, learning how to code a site and coding...It took away several hours of my sleep and I got such an headache at the end of all of this that it lasted for 4 days and all the time I was terrified some blood vein would blow and instantly kill me...because that's how much it hurt.
I did it on the site but if it wasn't for the work between my team mates, plus alot of people who gave their time willingly to help us, we would never have finished it.
So, check it out. Yes, it's in portuguese so cram it, get an online translator. Didn't have time to put the english version. In fact, we didn't have time to do alot of what we wanted. I doubt we'll win, but making a site was our own personal victory.
