Wait just a second! This is the middle part to a three part journal entry I'm doing. I'm afraid you must look at the first one before reading this one. HERE.
Well now that thats over with. Let's continue on where I left off? Oh what day am I on now? Oh yes, thats right Saturday the main day! Alright, let's start at the start of it all. Julia and I woke up around nine something. We ate breakfast, showered dressed and got our thrown together costumes put on. At around 10:30 we were dropped off at the convention. Julia's mother didn't let me drive this time as she wanted the car for herself to go shopping all day long. We went inside, Julia wore her kimono and I put some of my left over Avatar stuff on. Not to mention, my grunny plushie. I wasn't attemting to look like my avatar this time. It was more of a relaxed cosplay that wouldn't really feel like I was wearing anything at all.
We got inside, and went straight to the regestration area. We saw a massive line stretching from outside the hotel and feared for the worse. But amazingly, that was for walk in registration there was no line for prereg! At last, we could get our badges! We went up showed the lady there our reciet. She didn't even ask for our ID's and handed us two pins. Which, I guess is this conventions version of a badge. It didn't even have our names on it. Which frustrated me, as thats all they had to do the night before. Instead of making us pay the five bucks for the wrists bands. BUTOHWELL. Better not focus on the bad, there was a convention to be had!
We forced our way through the walls of people and eventually found our way to the dealer room. It was decent, just insanely packed. They really needed a larger space for it, but oh well. I don't think this convention planned for so many people this year. Somewhere in there, slightly before the dealer room I think we met another Gaian. Who cosplayed as totoro, seen in my last entry. She was nice but couldn't open up a bottle of ramune if her life depended on it. Though I will admit, it wasn't easy. Later I bought some, we saw her again I opened another. Julia and I sat around outside, slightly hungry wishing we knew where a mcdonalds was.
We tried calling her mother all afternoon to fetch us food. But she was gone and had her cell phone off. Oh well, we walked around, I bought a grab bag from the dealer room. Which I swear was the exact same lady I bought one from Anime Reactor. Julia bought a really cool rag doll from a doll maker in artist alley. I had to help her a bit money wise, but I will admit it was cool. She had a website where she makes them, each one is hand done and usually the only one done. She even signs them, here check her out over at StubbyChubby.com
The afternoon kinda blends together for me. But somewhere along the lines I managed to snag a bunch of pictures. Some turned out well, others didn't. Oh well thats life. Well as it grew later, Julia and I met her mother at around six for dinner. We ate at Red Lobster which was only my second time eating there. I like the food, granted I've only ever had their fried seafood platter. After dinner we went to the hotel to relax a bit before returning to the convention. We sat and watched a taped episode of smallville I missed on thursday. Which was especially good that week I might add.
Back at the hotel we wandered a bit until we found ourself back at the Asian Horror panel in the viewer room. First we watched the movie "The Eye" which I rather enjoyed, it's something like six sense I guess. Minus... the bad. Afterwards we saw what I feel was among the highlights of this convention... a movie so... so strange so weird you can't help but love it.
Oh lord I loved that movie and must own it. We watched "happiness of the katakuris" I just can't describe this movie so I'll use the description the guy who presented it gave us. "Sorta a cross between the sound of music and dawn of the dead." It was a japanese musical with zombies, well kinda and so much more. It was hilarious. I loved it and even made a thread about it Here
We got back after the movies at our hotel at around two in the morning. We went to bed soon after. Over all the day was good, there was a lot that happened that I can't recall well enough to share here. But I think I highlighted the main points. Now, let's go onto all my pictures. Theres actually a lot for today I may not put them all in this entry.
Here is the first picture of the day I took. It was while Julia and I sat down. We were hungry at around noon trying to get a hold of her mother. I know, it's fuzzy.
I then snapped a couple shots of the elevators.
Heres a random shot of part of the convention area. Just near where we were sitting, nothing was going on over there.
Yet another one, those kimons are blocking the way to the dealer room. It's funny how you can't tell theres a wall of people on the other side.
Bell was captured by storm troopers! ALERTWALTDISNEY!ALERT!
Another picture of totoro, this ones better then sundays!
ARRR it be jack sparrow you owe yer soul jack! YERSOUL! pirate
Julia took the camera and snapped me sitting down. It was hot, and I was sweaty. I took of my sunglasses, and I don't really like the picture but you can see grunny. To bad my horns were dropping as I just put them back on.
Can you tell what that is?! Well, here look at this picture.
It's R2D2! The guy made it himself, it's remote controlled and is complete with lights it moved and did nearly everything it did in the movies. Minus the flying and all that of course.
Heres a better one from the side.
And theres a shot of artist alley. It was actually not as crowded right then, granted it changed as...
They came inside I have a few more pictures, but am going to save those for another entry. I already went over my usual limit of three pictures per journal entry already, stay tuned in the next couple of days I'll talk about sunday.
And you all know who appears on sundays at conventions... BACKSTREETBOY MAN.
