That's right, folks, I'm going on hiatus! My parents are, like, super mad at me because I got a few rather crummy grades this quarter, so I'm very busy doing all this stuff, in addition to the fact that I can't even go on the computer until I've made up all the homework from the last quarter. Sucky, huh? But I promise I'll only be gone for a little while xp and every now and then I'll pop in to say hi, to answer my mail, and to basically goof off.
While I'm gone, here are some sweet webcomic reccomendations I've been meaning to put up for awhile... so that you don't go insane without me, poor Geri-less darlings.
Myralice- <www.myralice.com> Looks interesting. It's still in it's early stages, so I can't promise anything yet, but if the way-awesome art is anything to go by, it's definitely worth checking out. A troubled thirteen-year-old girl and her friend get trapped in a video game of their own creation. Why are they there? How will they survive? How will they get back? Seems a pretty typical plot, but actually kinda interesting. Updates one page each Monday and Friday.
Inverloch- <www.seraph-inn.com> Mucho sweetness! Utterly fabu art (l-e-e-t-l-e shaky at the beginning, but gets much better quickly)! A young elf named Kayn'dar disappears in the forest and no one knows why.. or do they? Twelve years later, Asheron, a member of a wolfish race known as the Da'kor, agrees to help his friend Shiara, who was Kayn'dar's betrothed, and search for the lost elf, whom Shiara believes is not dead, despite what the other elves say. He meets several interesting companions along the way as he learns more and more about the elf and wonders whether Kayn'dar's disappearance could have anything to do with the disappearance of Acheron's own father? And could this help solve the intense racial tensions between elves, Da'kor and humans? (Very complex, yes, but very interesting.) Updates about three pages every three or four days.
Earthsong- <www.earthsongsaga.com> I have rapidly fallen in love with this one. It's unique and captivating, and Lady Yates' (creator) side-blogs are too awesome! You have to read the original version first, teh Lady's been working on a redux version with more consistent art for publishing, and the original version goes much farther into the storyline (that's right, it's not finished yet). I can't really say much about this one, as it's very very hard to explain without spoiling it for you, so go read it, dammit! Updates one page each Monday and Thursday, but sometimes two if the Lady wants to get a part out of the way.
No Rest for the Wicked- <www.forthewicked.net> A well-written, fabulously-drawn story of a princess who is plagued with insomnia. She is told that she will sleep again when she can find where the moon is buried (the moon has not appeared in the sky for some time, though no one knows why). The comic makes several well-thought references to fairy tales, including The Princess and the Pea, Puss in Boots, Beauty and the Beast (the real one, not the sappy Disneyed-up version), Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and The Youth Who Went Forth to Learn What Fear Was (I didn't know it either). Very funny, I reccomend it to anyone. Updates once a week on Saturday, usually only one page (it drives me insane, but what can you do?).
That's all I can think of, but there's something that keeps nagging me at the back of my head... oh, well. If I remember it, I'll put in on later.
So.. *sniffle*
Ciao!
See you in a month (or so)
