Shadowy Business
Russ knelt down next to Koopa's paralized body.
"She you don't need any help?"
"I'll just wait for it to wear off thank you very much."
"If you say so." Russ walked over to the demon slayer. As he grabbed the man by his hair with one hand, two claws shot out of the back of his other hand, and he stabbed the slayer through the throat.
"So that's what you stabbed him with."
Turning toward Koopa, Russ stood and licked the blood off his claws. "What? These?"
"What is that? Is that like your bone or somethin?"
"No. It's some dark material that runs through my body." The claws dissappears into his hand. "Are you ready to accept a little bit of help now?"
"...What are you gonna do?"
Russ smiles and pulls out a small round object. "Eat this."
"Is that candy?"
"It's not candy, but it'll help."
"...it's some sorta drug. Isn't it?"
Russ growled and shoved the pill into her mouth. "You're a pain in the a**... Now, that pill won't take affect for some time, so let's get you to some place safe till you can move again."
Koopa chokes on the pill, but swallows it. Throwing Koopa over his shoulders, Russ walked along the river, humming the whole way.
"Why was that guy after you, and why are you helpin me?"
"I did a bit of damage in a few towns. Nothing big. And I'm helping you 'cause it's my fault you had to deal with him in the first place."
"What?"
"He was hot on my trail. I had to get rid of him, so why not let him chase another demon?"
"...so you were gonna get him to chase and kill me while you run off"
"Yeah."
"Why did you change your mind? "
"...Because..."
She remained quiet as Russ walked with her on his shoulders, thinking to herself.
