As soon as they were changed, they headed out; their plan was simple from here. They would get to the governor’s planning room, and steal the key he had to have.
Capt. Deep and Will paraded around, a bit embarrassed over their clothing which was too big in all the wrong places and too small in others. They walked around the entire place at least twice, and then they finally stopped and got a map of the place. The governor’s office was on the other side of the naval station, on the most strongly-guarded wall. If they were to be caught, it would surely be there.
Regardless, they carried on, past all of the guards who looked suspicious towards them. They entered the strip where they could find the governor’s room, and entered without causing too much suspicion.
Capt. Deep instantly began digging through the things that the governor had in his desk, and could find nothing. “Is anyone coming?” Capt. Deep asked Will.
“No, have you found the key yet?” Will asked.
“You mean this?” Came a voice that they could not identify.
The lights flicked on, and there was a man in the corner, and he was holding the key. It was the commodore, and Will had no other choice except to hide his face. Capt. Deep stood between Will and the commodore. “So Jack, what are you doing here?”
“I work here, Captain.” The commodore said.
“Yes, but this is the governor’s planning room, not yours.” Capt. Deep said.
The commodore chuckled. “Why don’t you show me what you’re hiding? If I find it a good enough trade, I might give you the key in exchange.”
Capt. Deep turned to face Will. “Are you ready? I won’t let him see you if you don’t want me to.”
Will sighed. “Hold him off for a moment. I’m not ready.”
“Okay, I’ll hold him off.” Capt. Deep said. She turned to face the commodore. “Keep your trade, I’m not interested!”
Capt. Deep lunged for him and attacked. They fought, Capt. Deep keeping him away from Will at all costs. The commodore brought Capt. Deep to her knees when he took the handle of his sword and rammed it into her side. Capt. Deep dropped her swords and knelt down on the ground, groaning in pain.
The commodore approached her, smiling evilly. “Looks like I win; I’ll get the key and I get whatever you were hiding all along.”
He raised his sword, but stopped when Will called out “STOP!” loud enough to make him stop in mid-swing and turn around.
“I know that voice.” The commodore said quietly. He turned around. “Will?”
The boy standing at the door was half-turned towards him, and he was slowly turning towards him, until the two could see each other perfectly. Will stood straight up to his father, and they looked at each other from across the room. “Hello father.”
“William!” The commodore cried out in joy. “Where have you been?” He headed towards Will, ready to hug his son.
“I’ve been on Capt. Deep’s ship, because mine sank.” Will said.
“So she gave you a lift here when your fishing boat sank?” The commodore clarified. “Don’t worry son, you’re home now, and we can get you a new ship.”
“No father; I never had a fishing boat.” Will explained, jerking free of his father’s hug. “I lied to you so I could join the pirate life with Captain Deep.”
The commodore looked heartbroken. “This is what’s become of my son, the future commodore?”
“Yes father, I never really wanted to be the commodore; that was what you wanted me to be.” Will said.
The commodore bit back tears. “I never knew you felt so strongly about this.”
“Your father was a pirate, so why can’t I be one?” Will asked.
“It’s not that, but you’re staying with our arch enemy.” The commodore explained.
“What arch enemy?” Will smiled, walking towards Capt. Deep, who was getting up from her kneeling position on the floor. “Capt. Deep isn’t my enemy… I love her.”
The commodore seemed like he was going to faint. “So you were there the entire time? You tricked me all this time Captain?”
“If you mean Captain Deep than yes I tricked you. If you mean Captain Will, then yes he tricked you.” Capt. Deep smirked.
The commodore turned around, taking the key with him and leaving them together. “He took that much better than I expected.” Capt. Deep said.
“I have to get home, maybe we can come to some kind of mutual agreement.” Will said, determined to reunite himself with his father.

Meanwhile, the commodore was climbing into his carriage, telling his driver all about what had happened. He looked out at all the poor people on the streets with sons under their arms and on their shoulders. He would never be able to do that again. He felt betrayed; he had always taught his son to hate pirates, but he never thought that he was being too strict with him.
He got to his large estate, and went up to his son’s room, and dug around until he had found what he was looking for.

Will and Capt. Deep took twice as long to get to the house as the commodore had. “I remember this place.” Capt. Deep said. “Are we going back to your room? There are so many memories there!”
“No, we have to talk to my father first.” Will said.
“All right, but he had better be there, because I don’t want to have to climb that tree to your room again!” Capt. Deep joked, but Will wasn’t in a joking mood at the time.
They approached the front door and knocked loudly. After a few minutes, no one answered, and there were no carriages there. No one was there at the house, and it was empty.
“Well I guess we’ll have to get to my room somehow.” Will said.
“Follow me!” Capt. Deep said. “It’s the last thing I wanted to do today, but I guess I can make a sacrifice for ye!”
