Ramblings 'n Such of a Deranged Glomper
Who knows what sparratic idea I may come up with?
There's times when she appears to be stable....
But then again, so does Nitroglycerin.

Greeaaaat, thanks to a spifftacular fanfic reading spree, my head tried to explode with trying to warp my story around a new beginning. Which is sad, because I have maybe three of them in there. I can only write when inspiration hits and lasts for oh.. say 9 pages again. xd Let's hope I can make at least two! So.. wish me luck, no da.

.:~^~:.

It was cold. The windows were shut tight and the heat was blowing from the foot of her bed, but she could still feel a cold chill creep throughout her body. She flipped, facing the window. The flickering of a fire light danced upon her face, from the candle she accidentally left burning in the night. She could see the flurry of a February snowstorm dancing outside the window.

Mental note.. fix the damned drafty windows. Kyrie's groggy mind growled with disdain. She buried her face into her pillow, curling into a tighter ball. Her movement did not go without consequence as a small furry being bounded onto her, which also had the reaction of being flown unceremoniously off the queen sized bed. P.S., She opened an incredulous eye, Lock up the monster in solitary confinement before bed.

It was then that Kyrie came to the conclusion with the multiple disturbances, that she wouldn't be getting back to sleep anytime soon. She pushed the covers off, leaving them to bunch at the end of her bed. She rubbed at her eyes, clearing them of any residing sleepiness and grabbing her glasses.
Now being fully awake, Kyrielle fell to her stomach, redirecting her position to peer from the underside of her bed. Her hands swept from either direction, in hopes of finding what she desired. After nearly sighing in defeat, her efforts were rewarded when her fingertips swept against rough denim. With a grunt she heaved herself forward grabbing the over stuffed bag and pulling herself to her knees before giving gravity the chance to pull her off the bed completely.

"Eureka, no da!" Digging happily into the bag, she tossed things to either side of her until she found what she really wanted. A handy flashlight and her favorite comic novel, entitled Fushigi Yuugi. Yes, Kyrie had fallen victim to a classic shoujo manga that many young girls had fallen in love with. The fantastic storyline, romantic tangles and a barrel of bishies. Most people fell in love with the pretty boys, which consisted of the majority of the book, but it was the fantasy that kept her hooked. Not even a whiny Mary-Sue of a main character could deride her from enjoying it.

It was with that thought, she contentedly returned her items to the once again stuffed bag, leaving only her flashlight and her favorite volume of the series, also strewn beside her. Even now, when Kyrie found she couldn't sleep, she would indulge herself in what she found either entertaining or tiring. Anything to keep her awake until exhaustion finally claimed her out of desperation on nights such as these. If it wasn't nightmares, it as something else. She glanced at the horde of books fondly, imagining the journey she held for it.

It had been decided one month ago. The youngest of the gang had finally finished school, just a year short of the eldest and herself. The band of three had long discussed the awaited trip across the states so they could be reunited, seeing as Kyrielle’s move had put a greater strain on their friendship. Granted, she had been the one to impose on the already lasting duo, but together, they felt they were complete. Three wasn't always a crowd with them. They didn't come for another few days, but it never hurt to be prepared. She only hoped the weather would get considerably better, and hope by the Gods that they would have a good time. She really hoped they would. 5 years of friendship is enough to last 6 weeks of cross-country sightseeing, isn’t it? Sigh.

Determined not to have depressing 'what if' thoughts, she dove mind first into the manga. In reality, she just randomly picked up a volume, but hey, she could start anywhere. She read for a good ten minutes before the cold even began to intrude in on her reading. She cast the book gently aside, crawling to the end of her bed where she knew a nice, warm sweatshirt was. That was better. Now she could focus back on the book and hopefully get back to sleep. Her parents would have her hide if she was to be forced awake to be dragged to take those horrendous exams... She shuddered. Kyrie happily settled back into the covers and pillows and began her reading where she left off- But.. wait. What were those black spots? It looked as if the inking job was a messy one. Kyrie wondered if it was really the printing or if something foreign had intruded on her precious book. Shrugging it off as the former, she continued, turning the page. More spots. Getting fewer, but gradually bigger. She turned a few more pages.

"Oh Fan-bloody-tastic. It's a big ink spot right in the middle of the page! I'll have whoever's butt who got near my FY with an exploded marker."

True to the object of her ranting, a massive abstract ink spill sat splattered from the seams of the pages. She smudged it with her thumb, hoping it was just something that could be wiped off so the picture, or at least the words would be legible again. Her hand withdrew quickly though when the black spot throbbed from her touch. It pulsed? Why would it do that? It's an ink stain. Too many Mali'dew shots before bed Ky-chan.. She poked it. It throbbed again, more violently, turning the black a tinge of purple.

She slammed the book. With an incredulous shake of her head, Kyrie returned to the page. Idly gazing back to the deformity on the page, a new occurence startled her, but she continued to stare at the page. The 'spill' had now grown, covering the page and was swirling with dark purple and light colors.

Kyrielle sat there frozen for a few seconds, before realizing that the swirling light hadn't changed since throwing the book. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves, not diminishing the idea that this was another dream. She wouldn't be surprised. They had been getting more vivid lately. She crawled to her knees, sitting just before the glowing novel with amazement.
Tentatively she reached a hand to the book. Fingertips fluttered against the pages. They were warm, radiating with a faint heat. It couldn't have been from her own body heat because she hadn't touched it for at least a whole minute.. She touched her finger to the light. She didn't really feel the page... rather a warm airy feeling. The harder and longer she pressed her finger to the page, the bigger, and lighter the light came. Soon both pages were consumed with a silvery, almost lavender light. At this point her excitement got the better of her, with a slight fear of the supernatural activities happening in her own room. Kyrie pulled her hand back, and glanced up only now noticing that her room was engulfed in a black-light ethereal glow.

Wow... she thought, talk about a book light..

It can't be real. That'd just be too...weird. Kyrie shook her head, how absurd! Oh yeah, and one experience I had one night was my manga book started glowing at me.. then every character popped out and we had a rave in my bedroom, no, the neighbors didn't wake up. That's because the mage put a sealing spell on the room while the bandits passed around the booze and glowsticks. The best part was being able to play pin the tail on the villain. That was a blast... and then the incident with the meteor ball? Whoo-!

Kyrie stopped herself, before her giggles reached her parents room. Hnn..She smiled, Right. Let's do it again, just to prove to you that nothing's going to happ-

But as Kyrie thought this, she regrettably prodded at the book. Whether she irritated some unknown force or she triggered something, the book flashed a brilliant light enough to momentarily blind her. Her already unruly hair flew about her face and she was sent spiraling into a bright abyss where she knew no more.

(End Chapter One)
