On the bus today, I realized something, punk and goth have almost polar opposite additudes. No one notices this because we all think the opposite of goth or punk is always prep. But if you listen to the music and look at the clothes for each, it's really goth and punk that are opposite. Emo would be middle ground and prep must have come from the twighlight zone or something.
Honestly! Goth music is all about how the world is going to Hell and it's all woe is me about it.
Punk says the world is going to Hell so let's go down fighting!
Then Emo music is more, "The World is going to Hell, too bad... who wants cookies... NO! None of you get cookies! the world is going to Hell and you want cookies?! Well too bad, I'm going to go cut myself now."
And prep music is, "Lalala. I'm not listening! Puppies, candy, bitchslappin' hoes."
(Because prep music is boybands and rap in my opinion.)
Now observe their clothes and hair.
Goth- Black. Don't look at me. I am in mourning for our generation. I just want to fade into the darkness. Even my hair is black. I don't style it because no one should care how other people look.
Punk- Look at ME!!! My hair is purple, yesterday it was blue! Maybe tomorrow I'll shave it off! But I'll leave enough for a mohawk! Let's get some Manic Panic in here. My shirt, it was red, but you can't see that now because it's covered in patches and ripped to shreds, but I have 3 more just like it, and I'm wearing them... All of them!
Emo- My hair is black... and some other color . I'm mouning for our generation, but I don't think mourning should be confined to black. So I'm mourning in red, like blood. All my clothes are black... except for when it's not... and sometimes it's black with some other color, but I'm still so deep and dark inside. It's all blackness... except for the red, for blood... and the blue for coldness... and the purple for pain... and the green for... ummm... poison.... yeah, and white for... something...
...
We are so nonconformist.

I bleed black...
Prep- Well I believe we should show off our bodies, except for fat people, but they don't matter anyway. So I ripped up my jeans and wore this really thin shirt, I don't know why the guys are always staring at me. I don't want them to look at me so much, really! And OMG! I just started on this new diet that's suposed to be so easy, you just stop eating and you'll lose like 5 pounds easy. And I so need to lose weight, look how fat I've been getting!* I walk by and say this* " That's not fat, that's your stomach distending in the last stages of starvation." *Walk away* OMG! did that fat b***h actually just talk to us! EWWW! What if fatness is contagious! ect...
So in basic terms, goths are pestimists, punks are rebels and optomists, emo's are goth posers with color and preppies are alien life forms which either need to be exterminated or fed until they fatten up to human standards.
