life the universe and nothing in particular
Bits and pieces of my life, when I can be bothered
TawnyAngel
The orange-eyed aeri bent down to nibble at the scrubby late autumn grass under his hooves. Spring, in his opinion, couldn't come too soon. Sicknesses passed around in winter and he always seemed to get a heavy dose of whatever was going around. This usually resulted in several miserable days spent trying to find somewhere out of the weather to recuperate.

Sighing softly to himself, Lucius took another pace forwards, his teeth cropping the grass without great enthusiasm for the tasteless stuff.

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
Storm could care less about the grass she was so busy bickering with the voice inside her head. She'd found her abilities were growing much more useful ever since her meeting with the Aeri of bone. What do you mean he's scary! You're an idiot! she snapped at whatever it was that had brought up the situation. ]'I'm telling you, he's evil. No emotion, it makes me quiver in my boots. Be wary.' The crossbreeds muslces tensed up as she fumed at this thing that argud with her. I'll have you know I'm ten times worse than any emotionless b***h! 'He'll get you one day. Just watch it.' When I find you, you're a dead little voice. She recieved nothing but a chuckle in return before she could no longer hold the connection, it shattered and was replaced by hundreds of others.

"Oh leave me alone you persistent fools," she grumbled at them, stamping her feet into the ground. Her ears swiveled about on her head searching for something of interest. She wanted nothing more than to beat the world into submission at the moment. She found a rock, and decided that would do just find.

Thump. "Stupid idiots." Thump. "Just who does he think he is?" Thump. "Damn voices." Thump. Then there was a pause. Her nose caught the familiar scent of another Nequus.

She hadn't expected to see him again so soon, but fates had their ways. She just wasn't sure she was in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment, let alone someone with good philosophical reason. She had a mind to be stubborn at the moment, and she didn't want anyone interfering with that, no matter how perfect they were. She could either leave, or wait, and she decided on the latter. He'd probably see her if she tried to trot away, anywho.

TawnyAngel
It was the thumps that caught his attention. Lucius raised his head, his muscles tensing for anger in case the whatever it was meant him harm. A moment later he smiled slightly and set off towards the golden figure that had entered his field of view at a steady walk.

"Greetings, Storm," he called to the seer. "I must admit I did not expect to see you again so soon... Might I ask what you were doing to make that thumping sound? I must admit it startled me somewhat."

It was good to see her again; he hadn't missed the horned mare but the stallion wouldn't deny that his mood was somewhat lifted by the sight of her. Tentative their friendship might be but he was glad to be in her company again, especially as it distracted him from the poor fodder and prospect of unpleasant weather over the coming months.

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
She flicked an ear towards him as he came, but remained mostly looking out to the world around her. Couldn't he see she wasn't in the mood for talking? But she wouldn't be rude, as much as she wished, for some reason he seemed to have driven a bit of respect in her heart. Not more than a few weeks ago she would simply had driven him away with teeth and hoof. Today she took it out on the rock.

Thump.

It was then she turned towards him, a sigh escaping her lips as she did so. Her head hurt severely from the conversation with the dolt not moments before. "Greetings," she welcomed him, offering him a slight smile of her own, though it was very weak. There was no point in trying to hide her discomfort, though it wasn't with him.

She wondered what he'd been up to since she'd last seen him. Merely a curiosity to find out what other Nequus did. She had never delved to deeply into her own races customs, it was always better for her to stay away from such ludicracy. People should define themselves, not have an event or others do it for them.

"What brings you out this way?" she asked, turning her head to the sky. Already thick clouds were beginning to form, the promise of rain and more grass, though highly worthless. It was all full of water and nothing else.

TawnyAngel
The stallion flicked an ear, noting the mare's listlessness. What was one supposed to do at a time like this? Lucius floundered internally for a few moments before giving up; he never knew what to do to help in situations like this.

Probably because I've never had to before. Ah well, perhaps I will get better at it as time goes on.

"Running, flying, finding some passable grazing," he said after a few moments of silence. "I usually find it best to keep moving in the colder seasons, keeps the chill out a little."

After a moment or two more of internal debate, the orange-winged aeri decided not to press the horned mare about her obvious unhappiness. If she wants to tell me, I am sure she shall. I don't think I would like to be quizzed about my troubles if I had no intention of sharing.

Ah.

Oops.

She could still read his mind.

Oh well, she wouldn't find any thoughts there that shamed him and at least she would know that he cared about her low mood.

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
Storm wasn't much of a mover in the colder seasons. She found her joints stiffened up and she'd rather be somewhere tucked away hiding for most of the winter. However, on those occasions where it rained, but was only cool, t gave her spirit a fling. The majority of the time she despised any sort of water falling, but there were some occasions where it was enjoyable.

"This is how I am normally," she told him. "Irritable." His worry was misplaced, really. She wasn't in a bad mood, necessarily, nothing was troubling her for the most part. It was just that voice that kept hammering her skull with various warnings about Velg'larn. As if the little Bae could do anything to her! Far below her in every way possible.

"Besides," she continued. "I can't read your mind. Only what you give me of it." In time, perhaps, she'd be able to dig for whatever she willed. In the mean time she could pick up surface thoughts, maybe, if the world around her wasn't buzzing with them. Sometimes she could ask things of them, and they'd answer, but mostly they recoiled in fear and a string of emotions, giving her a headache. She hadn't tried much more of that in a log time.

Today, however, despite her mood, she was ready to try something new. She let out a sigh and flinched ahead of time, awaiting the pain that might come from doing this. She focused on the Nequus' exterior thoughts, trying to follow them back. She lost herself several times, and almost fell asleep, but she thought she might have something. Hey, stamp your right foot. She told the other. As she suspected a wave of thoughts hit her as she tried it. Apparently having something in your mind triggered things, and they battered against her skull till she snapped her head back and let him be. "Ouch," she murmered.

TawnyAngel
Lucius frowned, he'd been about to say something to her about her apparent default mood when a murmer of somthing that might have been words passed through his mind. The Aeri snorted and tossed his head. Before he could discern anything about it however, it was fading away, leaving only the slightest of echos in his skull.

"...That was you?" he quizzed the horned mare, curiously; midly disconserted by the uninterpreted whispers that were rapidly vanishing.

Lucius pawed lightly at the ground with his right hoof, watching the golden-bodied mare steadily. "Interesting," he muttered, "It seems that you can do a little more than simpkly see the surface... you are not fully a seer then?"

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
She watched his expression carefully. There. He responded to something, but was it her? Storm opened her mouth to speak, but he asnwered her question for her. She nodded at him, realizing her full message hadn't got through. Practice. Lots and lots. Oh how she hated trying.

"No," she agreed with him. "It takes masterwork, of which I have none. Lots of experimentation and failure." She tried it all the time, but so far no full voices had come through. She decided to try something else. Maybe if she didn't use words things would work better.

She concentrated again, closing her eyes, which kept away the distractions, she focused on the strange thoughts that whipped about his head. Instead of trying to follow them, she simply floated with them, letting them take her where they willed. She felt herself feeling fatigued, something on her back was heavy. . . it felt oddly like bones. She went to furrow her brows, but couldn't. Storm panicked and tried to rip free. Everything turned into a chaotic mess, the other Nequus' mind noting the disturbance. She was pushed out, quickly, but surely, they bombarded her with their emotions, but she had escaped, back the way she came.

She jerked her head back, and shook her whole body, opening her eyes to make sure it was her form, and not his. "I think. . ." she said with a stammer. "I won't try that one again."

There was only one other idea she could think of, so she tried again, this time with her eyes completely open. She wouldn't be caught forever in another's soul. She kept her own mind a great distance away, but toyed with his thoughts, giving them things to see if they'd respond. She mainly gave them pictures, of her fruit tree, and the human settlement. One of Brakrin and Attia torturing a colt, that was more like a small clip. Once she felt enough was sent she receded completely into herself and let out a sigh. The ordeal was all very tiring and she didn't know how much more she could take, but it was all so interesting.

TawnyAngel
The black-coated Aeri took a step backwards as something - Storm, it had to be her - pressed into his mind again. Moments later she was gone again leaving the stallion's mind tingling oddly in the wake of the intruder.

Before he could open his mouth to ask her what she had been doing, the world vanished before him. Before him was a tree, it was strange and one he had never seen before but oddly familier. Soon that too was pulled aside, replaced with humans and their buildings. Lucius was sure he hadn't moved, his body felt perfectly still and there was no way anything could move him so swiftly in any case and-

Two black bae and a colt, screaming. They seemed to be enjoying the young being's pain. Snorting loudly, the aeri surged towards the pair.

Two paces on, that too was gone and he was standing before the white-winged seer once more. The red-maned stallion skidded to a halt and cast about widly for a moment before turning back to Storm.

"That... that was you as well," he said. It wasn't a question. "Who were those monsters?... It little matters I suppose," he muttered. "If I ever see those creatures they will live just about long enough to regret it."

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
A smile came her lips, her ears perked forward with new-gained excitement. The other had helped her improve her mood in more ways than he knew. Not necessarily for trying, but for lack thereof. She, of course, learned nothing of what she wanted. She knew no further how to pry into another's mind and read its deepest secrets, only how to send images. Not yet words. Didn't they say something?

A view of the world from atop a mountain can never be described even with a thousand words? So maybe she shouldn't concentrate on voicing her thoughts, but rather feeling them. All this seer business seemed like a bunch of heartfelt emotions and reactions. It was a bit to over the top for her liking, but it could prove to be useful, so she would keep at it.

She looked at him fiercly. Of course it mattered! If he knew who they were, he'd be on the lookout. It made her body relax some more. She needed as many allies against them as possible. She knew what had happened. A little fruit free was sprouting on the North quadrant. It was sprouting dismay. Sons and daughters of the idiots who ran cowardly.

She tried to voice herself. Perhaps if instead of sending words, she sent them as a sound with an image. She pictured herself, using reflections from water in witch she'd caught a glimpse, and voiced herself saying two names. Attia and Brakrin. She sent him images of the beginnings of their brood as well, the buds just starting to grow on the tree as it began to intertwine with itself, mother watching it all occur. "It doesn't bode well."

TawnyAngel
Lucius was more prepared for the images she sent him this time and nodded to her words as the twining tree faded from his eyes. "Not at all... One could hope that tehy will not turn out like their parents but that is something of a fool's hope." Doubtless the parents will raise the foals to be as souleless as they themselves are.

"It would be better for the world at large if the parents were removed once the foals are born," Lucius commeneted. "Then at least they would ahve some chance of growing up to be more that their sadistic parents."

But what were the chances of that? Slim to none, the bone-clad Aeri thought grimly as the image of the tortured colt flashed through his mind once more.

Kealdrana Sasaiuni
Storm nodded, knowing she wasn't the only one now that knew the two needed to be removed from the world. She thought of killing them herself, but with her current position she couldn't possibly for fear their pain might wash over to her. That could cause her own death, and it wasn't wise. Besides, there were two of them, and only one of her. Attia had a tree, she was dangerous as well, nothing can stop a mother's passion for their children.

"Indeed. All we can do is stop them before they have their 'fun.'" With that she turned and sped away, beating her wings against the air to gain altitude. She wasn't sure where she was going, but she needed to think.

Mostly on new ideas for these strange things she had discovered today. She could come to him when she needed to learn things, he'd let her in his mind. She knew that well enough, and with times like these, she knew such a thing was precious.
