To watch or not to watch.
One of are biggest troublemakers is the television for its addictiveness along with its support for violence and stupidity.
America is addicted to T.V. Everyday millions of people wake up an go straight to the T.V., they work there schedule around there favorite shows, and go to sleep late in the night only when "nothings on". Most people cant go a day without T.V. Also a T.V. is easy to use, just like drugs are easy to use, you just push a button and drift off to some little world as it turns your brain to mush and embed its self in to your head. People think about T.V. all day, Do anything to get to the T.V. and often talk about it all day, and cant admit its addicting! People usually make friends with people who watch the same show, since it allows them to have something to talk about, this may seem normal to want to talk to someone who watches the same show, but now T.V. is choosing what you do, how your act, how your children act, and now who your friends are!
A T.V. is a necessity for some people, many who are parents who just turn on the T.V. and us it to entertain there children as they go off to do something , leaving there children to watch these violent and unnecessary shows, many of which cause bad habits that the parent is dumbfound at how they obtained. Many of these children don't want to watch T.V. they just want to spend time with there parent or go play outside, but no, that is to hard for the parent so they let the T.V. take care of them, and after a while that's all they want to do is watch T.V. These shows shouldn't even be seen by children nowadays, there form of comedy is cruel acts and dirty jokes that aren't even funny, they just show the character laughing and so children laugh as a response since they are learning how the world acts and would normally be mimicking there parent. After many years it only seems natural to copy the reactions of the characters, laughing as some one gets blows up, beat up, or had there house raided. Most people may not even know what is going on and to hear what is going on they will deny it, since "Its just a harmless joke where it is completely normal for that character to beat within an inch of there life and laughed at as they do funny twitching and yelling at the pain, oh and its fine that they characters are making dirty and sick jokes about it later! They do that all the time!" These are the kind of children who are going to be that sadistic on the street late at night mugging innocent people and beating them for the heck of it for the entertainment, and who can blame them? that's how there where raised, how there were taught to act from there third parent, T.V. Now if that's not good enough, then did you know that in a five year study of 732 children :several kinds of aggression, conflicts with parents, fighting, were all positively correlated to with the total amount of television they watched.
Everyone has heard the classical "T.V. also teaches you things and is necessary for the growing brains!" Now, the problem with that statement is that books teach you the same thing, and dint have all those car commercials yelling about there once in a life time sell that happens to be going on everyday of your life. Also a statewide assessment program conducted in Rhode Island in 1975-1976, Connecticut in 1978-1979, and Pennsylvania in 1978-1979 surveyed thousands of children, and some how they came up with the same thing, the more television children watched, the worse they preformed in all academic areas." (Anderson 1) Most children wont even look at the Discover channel and spend all day watching cartoons that talking about there bottom or some other disgusting thing. Time that could be spent studying, or reading a book is wasted watching a monkey waving his bottom in peoples faces, a sponge and his lack of respect and yelling, or a boy and his fairies playing harmful jokes on people and insulting there parents, or even some boys going around a school and constantly playing dirty jokes on each other.
