Chapter 1 (continued)
No one believed that the two impossibly gorgeous strangers were simply 'a couple of merchant brothers trying to make an honest living.' The first reason was that they had no merchandise to sell; the second, they seemed far from honest, staying at a sleazy inn, only venturing out at night; the third, no brothers looked at each other the way these two did. Besides the extremely suspicious nature of them, they didn't even look related at all; although they were on oppoiste ends of any possible physical traits, neither could ever be considered ugly.
The friendlier one, Christoph, had large pouty lips that always seems to be in a charming, close-mouthed smile. He had a strong jaw accentuated by a small, trimmed beard along the edhe of it. and high cheek-bones. His short, white-blonde hair was larger longer in the front and fell over his right eye and cheek. It was a pity, for his eyes always seemed to smile more than any other part of him, in a brilliant icy blue. They were far more expressive than any words he had ever said and were often the first thing anyone would notice in his features. Unless they could only see him from a distance, then they couldonly admire his tall, muscular body, which he had, on occasion, demonstrated it's strength.
The other, Gerard, had the silent wisdom of an old man, rarely talking, unless to Christoph, and even then, he was very quiet. He had a slim, though muscular figure that others rarely saw with his shoulder-length black hair usually hanging loose, and a cloak draped around his body. Compared to his fair friend, Gerard seemed to be a shadow, rarely paid any attention. He had a delicate, almost pretty face, that if it smiled more often, could be more attractive than Christoph's. But although he was an incredibly beautiful man, his eyes were unnaturally dark, and their blackness was often thought to be quite disturbing, as light didn't even seem to reflect off of them.
Everyone was suspicious of them for one reason or another. Even the children had a certain inexplicable feeling when the two strangers were around. A sort of guilty curiousity always possessed them when they saw one of the myserious men that their parents had warned them to keep away from. Then there was a chilling fear that gripped them if either man caught their eyes lingering too long than social rules accepted.
And although everyone had felt this way to some extent, no one was ready to drive them out of town prematurely, back to their castles. Most of the women hopelessly adored them, while the businessmen appreciated that they were both exceedingly wealthy. So, the two 'brothers' were allowed to come and go as they pleased, dishonest, and probably dangerous as they were. It was simply another example of common sense beaten down by greed and lust.
June 18th(Early hours of morning)
Later, at night, Gerard woke me up. He was already in his cloak with the hood up, and although I know him, there was then an exciting aire of mystery about him. He tossed my cloack at me on the bed without a word. I understood our purpose tonight; I could feel his hunger and it brought up something inside myself as well. We went out, checking behind ourselves every few moments, and smelling the air. Eventually, we came across a lone prostitute and before she realized that our intentions had nothing to do with her trade, she became wide eyes with fear and begged for her worthless life.
I believe that no one saw us, although someone may have heard her before she died. I noticed a pleasant change in Gerard quickly after that; he seemed much less irritable as we walked back to the inn after cleaning our faces. Before he sought out the owner, for another night, he asked me how his breath was. I couldn't tell if he was joking or was actually worried that they might smell the blood on his breath. I just smiled and told him that he should be fine before I went up to wait in our room. And that is where I am now, waiting for Gerard to find the owner. That may be hime coming up the stairs, so I shall put this away, and perhaps record the rest later, although to do so may be rather indecent.
