The prototype

The alarm went off with its relentless beeping sound. I groaned as I slammed down on the snooze and pulled the covers over my head.
“Connor! You are going to be late for school,” my mother yelled from the kitchen.
I got up only because I had smelled the sweet scent of blue berry pancakes.
Blueberry pancakes meant only one thing sense my mom found out that they were my favorite, it was my birthday!
I ran as fast as I could past the hall and down the stairs, passing the pile of toys, then the certificates of achievement for my mother, my dad and me, and my dads collection of antique clocks when I finally got to the kitchen.
There was my mother dressed in her winter nightgown and just serving a stemming hot plat of, my favorite, blue berry pancakes.
And before I knew what hit me my mom was hugging me so hard that my eyes felt like they would pop.
With the rest of the air in my lungs after she attacked me I said “mom, your squishing me”
She quickly let me go and said “but it’s the last time ill get to hug a thirteen year old.”
“And it will be the last if you hug me like that again, I couldn’t breath” I said rubbing my throat
“Oh, sorry about that. I made your favorite, blueberry pancakes”
“I know” I said acting like I didn’t care
“You better eat fast, schools about to start”
“Do I have to go, I mean after all it is my birthday”
“Yes you have to go, you now how you’re principal is, one unexcused absent and he flips out” mom exaggerated
“I know, I know” I groaned with a mouth so full that you could hardly understand what I was saying “fben cam I at weast habe my presbenbs now?”
“You will get your presents after you get back from school, and please don’t talk with your mouth full.”
“Fine” I mumbled after I swallowed the whole mouth full of pancakes down at once.
