Sorace stood there for some time. Then he remembered the girl. He searched the village for any sign of her. At the same time, he kept thinking about the knight's words. A vampire? Impossible. Sorace had heard of vampires before but didnt actually met one. His mother, Ivy had told him about vampires when he was just a little boy. Vampires, creatures of the dark. They roam the dark forests by night and rest in a winter castle by day. The location of the castle is yet unknown as vampires travel by flying. Vampires came into this world over a thousand years ago. Hundreds of brave knight and soldier failed to defeat them. According to legend, the vampire king, Lord Drosliom was killed by one of the mistress in the castle, Zandra.
Zandra, an evil witch and vampire. She controlled the castle after the death of Lord Drosliom. The other vampires in the castle feared her power. Some of them even joined forces with the vampire hunters but those who did that were killed and were showed no mercy from the evil vampire Zandra. There is only one thing that made her different from the other vampires. She can withstand the power of the sun. She could go out into the daylight without burning herself. It is said that she even destroyed the neighboring village on her own without any of the other vampires help. The survivors in the village feared her and they didnt dare fight back even if they have the king's army on their side.
Something moved in the bushes. Sorace turned and looked. He tooked out the bow and arrow, waiting to strike. The pale little girl whom he had saw earlier, crawled out. She was breathing heavily. Sorace guessed that she had run at full speed away from the knights.
"Are you alreight?" he asked.
"I-I think so," she replied.
Sorace stared for a moment. He let her sit on a flat rock nearby.
"Here, take this," he said. He gave her a flask containing water. She drank it gratefully.
"What's your name?" Sorace asked.
"Fyre," she replied.
"Thats a nice name. I'm Sorace. I'm sorry if i offend you or anything, but are you a vampire?"
"A vampire? I'm not sure. The knights told me that both my parents are vampire. But i dont believe them."
"How come?"
"Well, for one thing, I never see them attacking anyone before. Not even at night or in the morning. My parents could also get out into the sunlight. So i dont think they are vampires."
"Hmm, that makes sense. Unless, someone is trying to get them killed or something."
"My parents dont have any enemies. So i dont think someone is about to kill them."
"Did your parents told you anything before they left?"
"No. They just say that they were heading to town to get some stuff."
"What kind of stuff. You mean they planned this from the start? To get you killed?!"
"I dont know. But now that I think about it, why did they want to leave me here?"
"I dunno. But i know a place to start looking for clues."
"But what about you? Aren't you on a mission or something?"
"Me? I just have to go to a cave near Palviron Forest and collect some gems from the stones there . My mission is rather simple."
"Then I will accompany you on your mission first."
"No, I will help you find your parents first. I can complete my mission some other time."
"My house has been burned completely and I have no where else to go. There are no clues in that house."
Sorace hesitated.
"I'll let you follow me to the cave. After that i'm helping you find your parents. Understand?"
"Yes. So where is Palviron Forest anyway?"
"It's not far from here. Only a couple of days walk from here. We have to find some horses to get there faster."
"I can get the horses for you. It's at the next town and I got money."
"C'mon, lets go." Sorace stood up. He noticed that Fyre didnt stand up.
"Are you going or not?" he asked.
"Yeah." Fyre was staring at the bushes. Sorace looked where she was staring.
"Is there anything there?" he asked.
"No, there's nothing. Let's go," she said. Maybe it was just her imagination. I'm with Sorace. She cant attack me now. Sorace is strong, he'll protect me. They walked on with the moonlight shining above them.
