Here It Comes
Part 18
Lindsey looked shyly down the stair way. Who was it? Did she look alright? Was something wrong? "My my! Peter, you haven't changed!" Said an unfamiliar voice. The lady who said this was tall and slender. She had shoulder length pale red hair and vibrant green eyes. Lindsey sighed. This was not her mother. Her father gave her a hug. "Kate please have a seat. What brings you here?" He smiled politely. "Just for a visit... And to see how Lindsey was doing." Kate said grimly. Peter nodded and wlked to the bottom of the stairs. "Oh! Lindsey, you're up! Please come down stairs. There is someone I would like you to meet." Lindsey ran her fingers through her hair as she walked down the stairs and into the living room. She sat down quietly on the couch and looked over at Kate. "Lindsey, this is Kate a good friend of mine from college." Kate smiled politely "She is now a journalist for the daily paper here." Here it comes, Lindsey thought,Now she going to drive me crazy with questions. "I am very please to see you again Lindsey. I haven't seen you since you were a little baby..." She sighed at the memory." You have changed quite a bit since then. And I was just wondering how you were holding out." "Well." Lindsey said quietly."It's just really hard." Peter was not used to this girl sitting in his living room. Lindsey was normally full of life, talkative and outgoing. This stranger was a quiet broken soul, not his daughter. The entire room felt cold and grim. "I was wondering, if you feel up to it, if I may interview you for the paper." Kate looked sympathetically at Lindsey. Lindsey looked up in terror. She would have to re-live it all! There friendship, love, and possibly death. The kidnapping, the shooting, the hospital trips. The walks, the talks, the memories. Everything about her. And Matt. Her eyes began to sting, and both adults noticed. Kate looked as though she wished she hadn't asked. Peter didn't know what to say. "Honney... You don't have to if you're not ready." Lindsey looked at the floor and collected herself. She looked back up in a moment, choaking back tears. She took a deep breath. "I'm ready." Lindsey said boldly," Where to start..."
