The Visionary of Homicide
A story of a nightmare that left the dreaming while his master had gone missing for many years. He decided to leave the dreaming, these are stories of his affect upon the human race.
There was cold and a feeling of loneliness they weren’t anywhere anymore. The Corinthian suddenly felt like maybe this was the place for him. He could stay here floating in the loneliness he didn’t need anyone else, not a one. Matthew clutching to the Corinthian’s shoulder thought the same dark thoughts, as though it was calling them to stay there. As quickly as the thoughts had come to mind they had vanished and they both found themselves in a dark alley. The smell of death and old garbage filled the air. “Yick…” The Corinthian removed a dirty shred of clothing from his shoulder as he threw it against the red brick wall; it was stained with years of piss and dirt. The Corinthian sneered at the surroundings emerging into the quiet city sidewalk. Matthew cocked his head up at the pale moonlight, “I want to go back home already…” The Corinthian looked over at Matthew, his glasses glinting in the moonlight. “You can always turn back master raven?” He smiled and began to walk down the street toward the lights of life; it was a small nightclub.
Before he entered Matthew looked again at the night sky, he knew what he wanted. His wings began to flap as he lifted from The Corinthian’s shoulder as he looked back. “You’ve made your decision Matthew?” The raven made a circle around him and he spoke through a caw. “I’m just gonna go see some old friends…” Before he was given a chance to reply the raven was gone, leaving nothing but the hard flapping in the night. The Corinthian smiled, he was alone and he was free. This was not the state that the shadow of humans should be in. He walked into the nightclub and his presence was instantly noticed, he realized he stood out. His white wrinkled shirt and blue jeans were just a bit out of style with this group. He looked around through his shades, it was dark but he could see perfectly. He was sure he looked ridiculous with the shades on in the dark, but he couldn’t take them off.
A group of threatening looking younger men push through the crowd as the crowd hushed. Three men now stood in front of him, he could feel their hot breath on his face and it made him sick. “What are you doin’ here punk?” The one in front of him said with a snort, they were showing their authority. He would have to show his. “I’m here to do whatever the hell I want to do!” The Corinthian’s voice blared throughout the dark hushed crowd. The man in front gave him a sneer as he blew the hair out of his face, he herd the sound of slick metal. “You tryin to start somethin’?” The man’s voice went sharp as he felt a point at his side. The Corinthian reacted calmly, “you don’t know what you’re getting into…” The Corinthian quickly grabbed the man’s arm splintering it as he pushed it hard against his knee. The man cried out in pain releasing the blade as it clanged to the floor. He cried out in pain as he crumbled to the floor like a scared child. The crowed gasped and whispered amongst them. The Corinthian rose from his kneeled position as he heard a familiar voice. “You sure know how to make a scene…” A person walked forward. It was not a he or a she… It was simply something everyone seemed to want as it drew attention to itself. The Corinthian looked forward at it and walked over as the crowd returned to their past activities.
Suddenly he felt pressured, he knew who it was. “You are my master’s sister-brother…” The Corinthian trailed off as a bead of sweat rolled down his face. The figure nodded as it took a small drag from it’s cigarette. “Why are you not in my brother’s kingdom waiting for him?” It’s voice was like a drug, you wanted to hear it again and again. The Corinthian luckily had no human desires and could fend the allure emanating off of it. “I have no king… He is dead.” His voice was wavering; the presence of this thing was making him doubt himself. He did not feel bad that he was weak in front of it, after all it was one of the Endless. “I am going to change mortals, I will show them the light of the dark.” It laughed lounging in a chair, “you think you can change the mortal world little nightmare…?” It’s words were taunting, like a snake showing how weak it’s prey really was. “I will try, I know many things…” It sneered at him and took another small drag, “I know much more then you will ever little nightmare.” Frustrated beyond his control the Corinthian turned away from it and burst out the doors into the night. “I have power… I will show them all.” His voice trailed off into the darkness as he heard laughter and happiness coming from back inside. “The Corinthian will be a name of fear not only in the world of dreams, but soon in the world of mortals.” As soon as his whispered word escaped he herd the sound of footsteps through the night. They were in a rhythm… Skipping.
