Chapter 11
Becka recovered quickly. After a week had passed the stitches were removed from Becka’s back, and she was sitting up in bed. Jareth still refused to let her leave the bed, to her annoyance, but she had plenty of company. Lassia, Hoggle, and Jareth were most of her company. Becka was sitting in her bed laughing with Hoggle and Lassia. They had kept her company all morning while Jareth was away. For some strange reason Jareth hadn’t been to see her all morning. Their laughter was interrupted by a knock on the door. “come in?” Becka called. She was surprised to see Jareth open the door and walk in. his expression was series, as if he had been thinking to the point of making himself sick. The laughter left the room as he entered. There was a moment of awkward silence as everybody fell quiet. Finally Jareth spoke. “I would like to speak with Becka,” then he turned Lassia and Hoggle. “alone.” Lassia and Hoggle looked at each other then at Becka.
“I…have some laundry that needs to be done. I should go. I will check in on you later Becka. Come Hoggle you can help me.” Lassia said getting up to leave. As she walked by Jareth, he gave her a grateful glance. Hoggle just followed Lassia, slightly confused. The door closed and Jareth and Becka were left alone in the room. Becka was getting slightly uncomfortable with his watchful gaze focused on her. “uh…w-what was it you wanted to talk about?” Becka asked nervously twirling a piece of her hair that was sitting on her shoulder. Jareth didn’t answer, only walked over to the side of the bed where she was. “let me have a look at your back, I want to make sure everything is he-” “Jareth,” Becka interrupted. Jareth stopped and looked into her eyes. “tell me what’s wrong.” she whispered to him. Jareth sighed, his expression holding to many emotions to count. He reached up with his hand and smoothed out her hair. Then he spoke. “you know that I loved your mother deeply. And I still do…but she is gone now, and I know she would have wanted me to love again.” he told her softly. Becka looked at him with wide eyes.
Jareth finally spoke again. “I have fallen in love again, and she is my true love.” he told her. Becka felt a lump in her throat. Tears slowly began to well up in her eyes. Becka turned away and tried to smile. “oh. Well, Jareth, I am happy for you… and her. She is a very lucky woman.” Becka told him trying to sound cheerful but failing miserably. Jareth was confused. “Becka,” he said. “Becka, what’s wrong?” his voice was full of concern. He took hold of her hand and tried to reach for her face but she pulled away slightly. “I…um…wish you the best…you and her. Whoever she is.” Becka told him quietly.
Jareth laughed. Becka looked at him hurt. She bit back the tears. She was becoming angry. “I demand to know what is so funny!” she said her voice rising in anger. Jareth slowly stopped laughing. “Becka, you thought…” Jareth trailed off, seeing the hurt and pain Becka’s gorgeous bluish purple eyes as she turned away. “oh Becka, how could you even think I could fall in love with someone…besides you?” Jareth stroked Becka’s cheek, as she looked up at Jareth shocked. Becka looked at him wide eyed tears streaming down her face. She was confused. “I-I…don’t understand.” she told him giving a slight frown. Jareth scanned her face for any signs that she was messing with him. She wasn’t. “I have fallen in love with you Becka. You‘re the one I love. I loved your mother deeply, and still do, but I think it‘s time that I move on. She wouldn‘t have wanted me to dwell on her death. I love you Becka, I realize now that you‘re the only one for me. Rebecca, I love you.” Becka’s eyes widened at his last words. He had used her full name. He had never called her that, and she liked the way he said it. But she was shocked that he loved her.
Becka thought deeply and realized she loved him to. She remembered him being there when her mother died. When he picked her up over his shoulder and threatened to take to the underground by force. She remembered seeing him in the garden, how concerned he was for her when he realized that she had been hurting herself. She thought back to him smirking in the doorway of the bathroom when she made the mess. She remembered him smirking at her, she remembered his starring down at her with his gorgeous mismatched eyes. She remembered when he sat her on the bed and forced her to unleash her emotions after keeping them inside for so long. She remembered teaching him to dance and gazing into his eyes as he dipped her at the end of the song. She remembered him kissing her outside her doorway that night. Her first kiss. Then she knew. She was in love with the goblin king. No not the goblin king, she was in love with Jareth.
Becka smiled up at him, tears still streaming down her face. Jareth smiled back at her a wiped away the tears from her face. “that’s why I’ve come here this morning.” he told her gently. Becka’s smiled slowly turned to an expression of confusion. Jareth held both her hands. “I have given it much thought. So much thought that I’ve made myself sick over it.” Jareth smiled slightly and then returned back to the subject he was talking about. He still held both her hands as he got up from the bed and knelt down on one knee. “I have been waiting, and waiting for this day to come. Now it’s finally here.” he told her gazing into her wide eyes. He released her hands and conjured a crystal. The crystal transformed into a small black velvet box. Becka’s breath caught in her throat as she looked at the box. “Jareth I-” Becka began but Jareth held up a hand to silence her. “please.” he said. “let me say this first.” he held the box in both hands as he opened it.
Inside was a silver ring, with silver threads rapping around a small crystal. It sparkled in the sunlight shining through the window. “Rebecca,” Jareth began. “will you marry me?”
To be continued…

You hate it don’t you? I know it’s not the best fanfic in the world but this is my first and the next one will be better I promise. But if you did like this one then please send comments or messages and I will create the sequel. I think I will eventually make the sequel on my own but at the moment I have an idea for another labyrinth fanfic. I’ll create it sooner if I get enough comments or messages. But in the meantime I’m sad to have to leave you in suspense.
