The night's sky was filled with glittering stars, the moonlight glinting off of small puddles in the cracks of the sidewalk. Trees stood tall, gently swaying in the light cool breeze. Sidewalks and streets looked as though abandoned, the nights air was calm and still.
Many of the houses had curtains drawn closed, porch lights extinguished and doors locked tightly. It was a well-known fact that this place wasn't the safest, especially at one in the morning. A hooded shadow started walking down the length of the sidewalk, their footsteps seeming carefully measured.
She watched from the corner, cloaked in the darkness of the night. As the mysteriously hooded shadow walked toward her, she started to step back. A branch snapped as her shoe came down on it, instantly alerting the figure of her no-longer hidden presence.
The shadow lifted its head, looking straight at the onlooker. She could see a smile playing across the figure's lips as it drew closer and closer to her. Backing up steadily quicker while shrinking back, she was surprised she could still get her body to even move with the amount of fear coursing through her veins....
