As the shadowed figure became more and more visible I readied another smoke bomb, but just as I was about to throw it I noticed Akairo take off his protective mask and smile. “Akai---“ I began to say, but then a dark shadow appeared behind him…It was Sabyo’s leader about to stab him with a sword…I drew my knife from it’s sheath and with out a second thought I pushed Akairo to the side and stabbed the Sabyo leader in the heart. He fell to the ground lifeless and I dropped to my knees just a few feet away trying to catch my breath. After a few seconds Akairo pulled me up to my feet and lifted me up onto a horse, one of his friends had brought him, then he climbed on behind me and snapped its reigns once. The horse ran so quickly before I knew it we were out of the basin that was once Sabyo’s territory.

We reached the Red Sun Village after a short ride and I noticed everyone was standing along the side of the street to welcome us home. I noticed most of the people that were involved in the raid had already returned home and were mixed in among the crowd. Outside the house Okaasama, Chiro, Sakura and Rin all greeted us…This time even I got pounced on… After a short time playing with the younger kids Okaasama called them inside leaving me and Akairo alone for the moment. Akairo held his left hand out to help me up. I took it and he pulled me up slowly with both of his hands…Once I was stable enough to stand on my own he let go of me and I noticed a silver band around my right ring finger…”Akairo what’s this?” I said looking up at him a little surprised. “Rayne, will you stay with me and be my wife? If you will that is my engagement present to you…” Akairo said taking off his right glove to show me a similar ring on his right hand. “I will Akairo.. I love you and want to be with you always.” I said with no regrets. “She said yes!” Akairo said as loud as he could then he picked me up off the ground, he spun me around, bringing me into a tight hug. I could see Okaasama standing in the doorway smiling while the 3 kids all crowded around her. Chiro was in front of her… she had her hands over his shoulders, while the two girls clung to each of her pant legs.

Okaasama said she would help me get ready once the time came but for now the wedding would have to wait while I tied up some loose ends. Most of all I wanted to visit Kiel again since he was a close friend of both Akairo and I…I had to invite him and also I wanted to catch up. I also wanted to revisit my hometown to introduce everyone to Akairo and say goodbye to my parents properly. Akairo wanted to be at my side and I was very grateful to him. I didn’t have to make the journey through my past alone and Akairo would be there to protect me every step of the way.

First we decided to visit Kiel who was shocked both of his former students decided to visit at the same time… He couldn’t believe his ears to hear of our engagement. He was relieved to hear Sabyo was dissolved after Akairo and I killed their leader and now I could live a somewhat normal life. Akairo and I stayed the night with Kiel reminiscing about what had happened since we last saw each other. In the morning Akairo and I woke up bright and early and shared breakfast with Kiel. He told us we should get going before it got too hot, but before we left we gave Kiel our new address and we told him we would send him letters back and forth and let him know when we finally decided on a date for the wedding in the future. We left Kiel with hugs and warm wishes for the future then we got back on our horse and continued on towards my hometown.
