Time//Space
This page has no space.
This time is not enough.
This pen has nowhere near enough ink
To say what I need.
But I'll try.
When I see the moon,
I think of your eyes.
Compare them to the stars?
No.
For not even the skies
Have space enough for what I need to say.
And twelve million thoughts later,
Coupled with three million tears,
And fourteen hundred questions
With only six hundred answers-
And I still can't say it right.
When I think of how far we've come.
The immeasurable shadows you pulled me from
I think of the three-hundred sixty-five nights
I spent wishing for you.
So after a few dozen letters,
Fifteen or so poems,
And seven nights where I've gotten no sleep at all,
I've found some great words,
I just don't think they're quite right.
Because there are only three.
Perhaps I'll find more
When we're back to before
And I can fill the skies with my writing of you.
But for now, it seems
These three little words will just have to do.
So, I say to you now, before and forever
In the biggest letters that I can put in the black, starless sky:
I love you.
