“Frank… Give. Me. The. Effing. Shoe.”
“You have to catch me first!” I ran after Frank but I just couldn’t catch up to him. He had stolen my left shoe and I had been chasing him for it back almost the whole morning! I was breathless but amazingly or not, Frank was still going strong.
“Daddy, make Frank give me my shoe!” I whined.
“Sweetie, as hard as it may be to believe, Frank is an adult and I can’t make him give you your shoe anymore than you can.”
“Argh, fine!” Then my brain hatched a brilliant idea. I quickly ran into Frank’s room and located his secret stash of Skittles (in his suitcase, I know, not very secret). They were all in a shoebox so I took it out and calmly went back into the living room where Frank was talking to Gee, shoe at hand. As I walked in, Frank’s first instinct was to run but then he noticed what I held in my hands.
“Is that what I think it is?” he asked.
“Mmmmhmmm.”
“Damn you!” Then instead of running away from me, he ran towards me, still grasping onto my shoe. I quickly darted away from him although it was hard because I had to hold an entire shoebox.
“What is it?” Gerard asked while Frank was chasing me all over the tour bus.
“His secret… stash… of Skittles,” I managed to say while I was still running.
“That isn’t secret anymore!” Frank added. “Give me the shoe, or all your Skittles will be mine!” I said, ignoring his last comment.
“No! My Skittles!” he tried grabbing at the box but I wouldn’t let him.
“Fine! Take the effing shoe!” I dropped the box on the ground and then quickly grabbed my shoe from his hands while Frank quickly grabbed the his Skittle box. He hugged it close to his body and while stroking it said,
“Yess, my Skittles. My precious. All mine. Mine. Mine…” I thought he sounded a lot like Gollum. I quirked an eyebrow at him while Gerard just laughed at him.
“You two are probably the weirdest people I know.”
“I know, isn’t it great?!?” Just then a very sleepy looking Bob shuffled out of his room and into the living room type place. “I swear, someday, I’m going to effing kill you guys,” Bob stated sleepily/angrily. “Hehe…” Frank said anxiously.
“Hey, well it’s not my fault a certain someone decided to steal my shoe!” I said, glaring at Frank. He gave a cheesy looking grin as Bob just walked into the kitchen shaking his head.
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m going to go make some more coffee. You want some?” Gerard asked, mainly addressing Frank because I don’t drink coffee. “Yeah, sure,” Frank replied following Gerard into the kitchen. I decided to follow them all since I really had nothing better to do. Eventually the Torosaurus (meaning Ray) joined us in the kitchen along with Mikey and Alicia. “We’ve got the day off today, what do you guys want to do?” Ray asked as we were all eating breakfast. Good ‘ole Ray, always knowing the touring schedule and such. Then a bright idea popped into my head, which I whispered in Frank’s ear. He smiled and nodded. “Frank and I have something planned,” I said grinning at Frank. “Uh oh, this can’t be good,” Bob said. “After what happened this morning…”
“What happened this morning?” Alicia asked. “Frank stole my shoe!”
“Yeah, so she was chasing him around which just happened to wake me up.” Bob explained adding emphasis to the last part. Frank and I just giggled.
“Well, as long as you don’t get her piercings or tattoos or something like that,” Gerard said.
“Come on Gee, I’m not that irresponsible.
“You never know.”
“I take that offensively,” Frank pouted crossing his arms over his chest. I just rolled my eyes at him.
“I think I’m going to go comic book/CD shopping,” Mikey stated.
“Yeah, I’ll come with you little bro,” Gerard said.
“Well, Bella and I are going to go now…” Frank started.
“We are?” I questioned.
“Yep. See you guys!” Frank said dragging me out of the van and into the open air. It smelled so good compared to the bus which I guessed was a bad thing.
“Frank, you might be more excited about this than me,” I laughed as we searched around the streets for the store that we needed.
“Hehehe,” he replied strangely still half-dragging me along.
“Ah ha! Here we are!” Frank said going into the store, me trailing behind.
*****
“It’s awesome Frankie! I love it!”
“Thank you!” he replied smiling.
“It hurt a hell of a lot but it was definitely worth it,” he added.
“Yep.” Frank carefully put his shirt back on then went to pay for his new tattoo.
“I would say that we got a lot done today,” Frank stated as we walking out of the tattoo shop.
“Ha ha, yep. I just wonder how dad will react.”
“He’ll probably disown you or something.”
“Hey!!!”
“I’m just kidding! But he’ll probably start freaking out.”
“Yeah you’re probably right.”
*****
“Hey Daddy.”
“Hey swe-Oh my god, what did you do to your hair?!?”
“Well, erm, I dyed it if that’s not obvious…”
“And cut it!” Frank added.
“Not helping Frank,” I muttered.
“And you let her do this?!” Gerard asked, turning to Frank.
“Yeah…”
“I knew I shouldn’t have let you go off with Anna!”
“You said I could dye it!”
“I said black not ******** green!”
“It’s only streaks Gerard. I mean come on, you have to admit it looks good.”
“But she’s only ten! People are going to think she’s ******** 15 or something!”
“So?” I said, not really caring. Sometimes he brought such trivial things into arguments. Gee just shook his head.
“Does that mean I can’t keep it?”
“How long will it stay for?” Gerard asked.
“Eh, only a few months, “ Frank answered.
“Only a few months?”
“Yes only a few months.”
“Fine, but it just better be out the time she starts school again.” I groaned at the mere thought of going to school. Bleh.
“So… is that a yes?” I courageously asked.
“I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but yes, it’s a yes.”
“Yay! I love you Daddy!” I exclaimed giving him a big bear hug.
“Come on, I want to show Uncle Mikey and Aunt Alicia,” I said dragging Frank along with me.
“I like how I don’t have a say in whether I go or not,” Frank said as I dragged him along. What a sight.
“Nope, you do not.” We arrived at Mikey and Alicia’s room where they were snuggled up on the bed, watching a movie that wasn’t The Nightmare Before Christmas.
“Hey guys!” I exclaimed.
“Hey An-Holy s**t what did you do to your hair?!” Mikey said, having pretty much the same reaction as Gerard, only less fatherly.
“Dyed it, streaked it, cut it,” I replied simply.
“And he actually let you do this?” Mikey asked, referring to Gerard.
“Yep!”
“Wow.”
“I think it looks pretty,” Alicia said from next to Mikey.
“Thank you Aunt Alicia! That’s the first good thing that anyone has ever said about it.”
“What about me?” Frank whined.
“Oh, you don’t count, you took me to get it done.”
“How am I not surprised,” Mikey muttered although we could all hear him.
“Hey!”
*****
“Whoa Frank, you got a new tattoo?” Gerard asked as they walked off stage the next night. Frank was obviously shirt-less because of Gerard’s, “Boys, take off your shirts!” thing.
“Yep, I got it after we got Bella’s hair done.” “It looks awesome man,” Ray said joining in.
“And painful,” Bob added.
“It was painful,” Frank laughed.
“Yeah, he laughed a whole lot when he was getting it done,” I explained.
“Why were you laughing?” Bob asked, confused.
“I don’t know. I just laughed when it hurts.”
“Okay then…”
“I’m still not used to your new hair Annabelle,” Gerard exclaimed totally changing the subject.
“Eh, you’ll get used to it sooner or later,” I said. He chuckled.
“I just hope it’s sooner rather than later.”
