The Book Of Remembrance and Forgetting
Hopefully, mostly remembrance. My New Year's Resolution this year was to keep a journal...this isn't exactly a chronicle of my exploits (though at times it becomes such) as a stream-of-conciousness narrative. Enjoy.
Library adventures
It was supposed to be simple.
It was supposed to be routine.
It was neither of these things.

I went to the library today, joy of joys. In name, I went to pick up a book on E. Coli for my biology homework. But, as anyone who knows me can tell you, if I go to the library for one book I will inevitably come out with at least five. Today's grand total was 11, broken down as follows:
1 nonfiction
10 fiction
Of those:
2 by authors I'd never heard of
2 by Anne McCaffrey (Killashandra and Acorna's Rebels)
2 whose main characters are seventh sons of seventh sons (Magyk and Prentice Alvin)
2 that I've been looking for for a long time (Beauty by Robin McKinley and Peter and the Starcatchers by Ridley Pearson and...someone else...)
And 2 on audio.
Of those last two, one was rather surprising. It was Shannon Hale's The Goose Girl, in a case that I was sure meant it was on tape. Wrong. I opened it up and this...gizmo...fell out. It's a little digital player, like an mp3 but with only one book on it. And the sound quality is terrible! Still, it's an interesting story and a FullCast production, so I'll finish it. But this is what I get for not listening to the voice in my head saying 'This looks weird.'

Lesson Learned.
