Random randomness from the mind of a wierd little person. That would be me.
Bitter Sweet | Ch. 1 | Pt. 4
| Here we go ^^ Another post just cuz the last one was too short and the fact that Shea really wants to read it. << Umm... Yes...this is the one with the cliff-hanger... and depending on how long it turns out, it may have to be divided into 3 different posts instead of two x.x we'll see... |
-------------------------

That whole week seemed to go by rather smoothly after the incident, which Shiva was grateful for. Not even his father gave him much grief. He had expected more trouble, especially from the new dark sudent, but nothing happened. It was as if he was completely ignored. Of course, he really did not mind that. He was too busy with school work and house work, so trouble in school would have only stressed him out.

It was suprising to see how quickly Naoe had become popular around the school, especially with the female population. It became apparent to everyone that the dark-haired wonder was very physical. He always did perfectly in gym class, and one of the girls had managed to get a snapshot of him without his shirt in the lockerroom. Not only that, Naoe seemed to be incredibly smart and quickly climbed his way to the top of the class, which really didn't sit well with Shiva, or his father, for that matter. Unfotunately, there was no way to beat Naoe at anything; he was perfect.

THe day of soccer try-outs, Shiva was so psyched and ready; he loved soccer. It was the one sport he could not be picked on about because of his height. And, because of his compact size, he ran faster than most of the other guys that had been on the team the previous year. However, when he got to the feild, he was devestated to find his rival was there as well.

"You've got to be kidding! Is there nothing you can't do?!" Shiva growled, approaching the larger male. Naoe only shrugged nonchalantly, his gaze fixed on the feild before him.
"You have a problem?"

"Yes! Not only do all the girls flock to you and you bump me from the top of the class, but now you're going to show off with soccer, too?" Another shrug was his only response and that seemed to set Shiva off right there. Normally he did not let himself anger so easily, but this guy was just something else completely. He had no regard for anyone else.

"Gah! You're anti-social and egotistical and... and... I just can't stand you!" Shiva growled once more before stocking off to wait for the coach. Maybe, if he was lucky, Shiva would be better than Naoe; after all, he was smaller and lighter.

Unfortunately, he had been right the first time. Through the whole soccer try-out, Naoe was perfect in every aspect. No matter how hard he tried, Shiva could never be even a little better. Naoe ran faster and dodged easier than the boy could ever wish to. It was driving him insane. He had always tried so hard to be good at what he liked to do, but some new guy came for a week and ended up putting his efforts in the dust.

When the try-out ended, Shiva could not help but sigh in defeat. Covered in sweat and aching all over, he gave up; there was no way anyone could get any better than Naoe. It was like he was a god or something. Of course, he would never say that to the other male's face.

"I gotta get outta here." The coach said as the rest of the players headed off to whatever ride had come to pick them up. "My daughter's got an appointment and if I'm not gone pronto, she's gonna miss it..."

"I'll lock up for you, sir." Shiva offered. "I have to get something from the locker room before I go, anyway..."

"Thanks, Keijimura." The man tossed the keyes and rushed off. Shiva sighed and made his way to the lockerroom, pushing his hair from his face. In reality, he wanted to shower before he headed home, knowing he would not get a chance to before making dinner. He just could not stomach the thought of cooking while he felt so dirty. It was really a disapetizing feeling.

Laying his things aside, he quietly glanced around the little room. Everyone had gone; everything was silent. Nodding to himself, he checked the showerroom, finding the same result; it was empty. A small smile spread across his boyish features. That meant he did not have to worry about someone walking in on him while he was showering. That was a good thing; he could not help but be extremely modest. It was something he had picked up from his mother.

Slipping off his clothing and folding it neatly with his things, Shiva grabbed a twoel that was left for those who liked to stay clean and headed to the showers. The room was rather large and tiled in white and pale blue; a soothing combination of colors. As an open shower, it had no stalls, just faucets and showerheads lining the wall.

With a last peek around the room, the boy placed his towel on a rack and quickly scurried over to the nearest shower. He adjusted the water before standing under the stream, sighing in relief as the hot liquid touched his sore body. He could feel his muscles to relax.

Activity over the past week had not been good for Shiva. Always, he fell in gym, or was pushed, and always, he would land on his side, where his rib was still healing. He had kept the pain hin, but the bruise refused to disperse so easily. That soccer try-out really had no helped at all.

Letting the water soothe him, Shiva looked down at his own slender form. Bruises from beatings and scars from knives littered his chest and abdomen, as well as his back, even though he couldn't see it. He knew they were there. But looking at his body, he found the large, blue-black spot that covered his right side, reflecting the beating from earlier that week and the clumsiness that had insued afterward.

"I hope this doesn't hinder anything." Shiva murmured, his fingers lightly trailing over the wound. He seriously hoped that it was not a broken rib or anything of the like. That was the last thing he needed, considering he could not go to the doctor. His father was not about to take him to one, aside from the fact that they really could not afford one at that point.

"Looks like we had the same idea." The quiet voice reached his ears and he spun around. It was bad enough that someone else was there, but it was worse when Shiva realized who it was that had intruded on his bathing. It was Naoe, stripped of all clothing as well, which made his intent to take a shower quite obvious. He had probably thought it empty as well.
