I've had this set of runes for ages now. I was recently with my roomie's Mum and I was doing a spread for someone when she came into the room.
Mum: *about my runes* Those look like scrabble tiles what ARE they?
Me: ...
Mum: They’re SATANIC aren’t they?
Me: If I could spin my head, speak in Latin and projectile vomit I’d do it right about now.
Mum: What ARE they?
Me: Runes
Mum: *WTF look*
Me: Calm down...it’s what the ancient Germanic peoples used throughout Europe but it’s Norse in origin...Satin isn't even recognised as a deity of ANY kind my the Nordic people S’just a divination practice...a lot like that tea leaf reading cup you didn’t seem to mind. *dryly*
Mum: GERMANS used them?!
Me: *face palm*
Sad thing is...my mother would be the same way. =.=;
