We see briefly the crises that occur in this world. Whether the act of witnessing comes from media, experience, word of mouth or otherwise we do sometimes become immersed in darkness. But what of the corners of the world that are constantly covered in darkness? In cruelty, violence, danger, sadism, masochism, and animal-like ritual. When a poor soul cries out in the night, but no one hears it does it make the deed any less astonishing? Do the murders that occur, which we are not informed of suddenly become less significant than others?
I've lived in villages where rape is not only witnessed, but condoned. I've slept on the floor of a woman who beat her children every day if they did not come home with money. I've witnessed the death of at least 4 people. Two of which were killed, rather violently. One of which was done by their own hand. I've been used, abused, violated, and completely sickened by the sepsis of the supposed "human nature." I've lived reality at its darkest and crept out with a type of light not many can ever truly obtain. Some refer to it as Hope.
Cruelty is seen by scientists as common. It is seen by the media as often. But what would happen if we all were to suddenly realize why we do indeed see photographs of mangled bodies on television at least once a week? What if we were to realize that cruelty is truly.. rare. Not a commonality at all, but in fact a shock. Shock, can do many things. It can terrify, it can entice, it can inspire, and it can also entertain. Shock, is the electricity that keeps this century thriving. The shock of the latest Britney incident, the shock of the iPhone, and the shock of the next disaster to affect.. wherever. The fact of the matter is simply this.
Cruelty, in humans is rare.
Something that is rare, has shock value.
Shock value runs not only this country, but the very life force on which human beings thrive. In this era, it is our very oxygen.
So here's another shock for you all, worthless wretched addicts.
Human beings, as a whole, are not cruel.
