Born under the sign of compassion and loyalty, you are honest, faithful, and sincere. In fact, in the Chinese zodiac, Dog people are probably the most humanitarian and likable of all.
You are candid and fair and exude confidence wherever you go. You respect tradition, value honor, and enjoy helping people. Not particularly sociable, you are not fond of large, noisy parties and tend to become invisible in a large crowd such as at a wedding or a big party. However, at small events your conversational skills and friendliness shine. In fact, if you could choose a way to spend the weekend, you would much rather spend a quiet afternoon tea with a close friend than go out partying till dawn.
Dog people are very righteous and are always the first to speak out against injustice. You will do everything in your power to help right the wrong. If a friend is in trouble, you will scold, complain, or even get angry, but the last thing you will do is turn away, because you simply cannot ignore a call for help. Protective and sensitive, you will protect the interests of your loved ones before your own, and are ready to jump to the defense of any family members or friends being attacked either physically or verbally.
You are truly man's best friend, and once you take someone in, this person is in for a lifetime of loyalty and devotion. Faithful and honest, you have the most profound sense of duty. You can be relied upon never to let people down. And as a good listener and an expert adviser, your many close friends highly value your opinion. Furthermore, you feel obliged to be discreet and are very reliable in keeping secrets for others. Moral and honest, you are simply not the gossiping type.
You do not like to chitchat or beat around the bush. Frank and honest, you prefer to get to the heart of the matter right away. And your quick tongue can sometimes be hurtful or sarcastic. You see things in black and white, and nothing in between.
Generally speaking, you are an agreeable companion if you are in a good mood. On the negative side, you are born anxious and worrisome, and when panic strikes, you can turn nasty and bark ‘til everyone around you goes nuts and until you are totally out of breath. Normally, you don't hide your emotions. Happy or anxious, you show your true feelings without trying to disguise them. This makes it easy for everyone around to tell if the alarm is about to go off. Nevertheless, temperamental as you are, you are always cool in time of crises. Often you can be judgmental, defensive, and picky if someone rubs you the wrong way. Nevertheless, the Dog is not as fearsome as the Tiger, and as long as someone knows how to pet and massage you, you make absolutely the best and most honorable companion on earth.
Generally speaking, in work you need a goal to motivate you, but in reality, it is not easy for you to set a lifetime goal. However, you aren't materialistic, so money and power do not excite you. In fact, you believe it is more important to ensure the welfare of your loved ones than to pursue power and money. You usually do well in a job, and because you are very compassionate, you tend to be the type of person who will volunteer to work at a charity.
Dogs are born old and get younger as they age. Sometimes you take everything too seriously. Honesty is an important value to you, so you can't tolerate betrayal. If hurt and betrayed by any friend, you will hold the grudge all through your life and will not listen to any reasoning or explanation. A person with high morality and critical eyes, you can be pretty hard on those around you. You are honorable and trustworthy, and expect those same traits from your friends. Many times, while everyone is chatting about the weather or movie star gossip, you most likely speak up about streetlamps, complain about traffic, or social welfare. Fortunately, as you get older, it is less likely you will be so self-righteous.
Intuitive and talented, you make a splendid captain of industry, a priest, an educator, a critic, or a doctor. But whatever your career, it'll have in you a spokesman whose ideals will be profound and often original.
Dutiful and caring, you are extremely devoted when it comes to love. You tend to enter relationships in which, normally, you are the giver and the partner is the taker. You are usually very generous and loyal, and in love, you are honest and straightforward. But you will have romantic problems all your life. Really, it is mainly your own fault: You are often led by your emotional instability and your eternal anxiety. Most of the time, you can be easily agitated and extremely cynical to your partner. On the whole, you are a worrier. However, after several setbacks in relationships, when you find true love you will be a loyal husband or wife and a great parent. Nevertheless you often demand the same high degree of loyalty and devotion from your partner.
Overall, anxiety, loyalty, and protectiveness characterize the magnanimous Dog personality. Low on ego, underneath, you are a pessimist, and in time, you should learn to be less worrisome and more cautious with your hurtful tongue and words.

The Metal Dog:
The Metal Dog is in its natural element, and the Chinese consider this double-Metal sign to be the "Iron Dog." In ancient China, the Metal Dog could be either very good or very bad, depending on whether it takes the positive or negative course. The double-Metal strengthens the Dog's idealistic quality. The Metal Dogs usually have very high standards, are extremely opinionated, and sometimes take things too seriously. Nevertheless, the Metal Dog can be selflessly dedicated to objects or people worthy of devotion, and at the same time, ruthlessly pursue enemies when provoked. Decisive, loyal Dogs will pick a side immediately and never desert their affiliations.

The Water Dog:
The Water element softens the Dog's rough edges and creates a sympathetic and pleasant Dog. Water Dogs are usually popular; they are very diplomatic and easygoing. Though usually more liberal and flexible than other Dogs, this makes it hard for them to be good leaders or managers sometimes. They like to indulge themselves and others to self-gratification, and can be very sympathetic to those who are on the opposite side. Some believe that Water Dog is the most charming and sensual of all animal signs. They are fluent in expressing themselves and can be great counselors.

The Wood Dog:
The Wood element brings warmth and stability to the Dog's nature. Wood Dogs are generous, kind, and energetic, which makes them comfortable coworkers in a team environment. They usually form long-lasting and loyal relationships with those they choose to befriend or love. Wood Dogs are drawn to money, success, and art. They are not necessarily very creative themselves, but they know how to appreciate. Sometimes too eager to please, the Wood Dog can be indecisive if he or she lacks support or approval from others.

The Fire Dog:
The Fire element revitalizes the Fire Dog and creates an attractive and popular individual. Fire Dogs are more approachable than other Dogs and are very friendly and charismatic. Often in the center of the limelight, they can easily convince others to follow their lead and are very popular with the opposite sex. Fire Dogs often need mentors to learn from and guide them. This is probably why they often relate better to people older than themselves. Fire Dogs love new experiences and seek adventures; they are curious and enthusiastic and often succeed at any project they have in mind.

The Earth Dog:
Earth Dogs are well-balanced people. They are faithful to their own beliefs, but will also agree with the majority; they are idealistic like most Dogs, but the Earth element makes them practical enough so they don't lose sigh of reality. Earth Dogs have high moral standards and the tendency to demand the same dedication and loyalty from others. Unlike other Dogs, the Earth Dogs are less anxious about the future, and instead take one day at a time to fight and to survive. They are the thinkers in the Dog family.</div>
