Yeah, that's right, boys and girls. Sora from Kingdom Hearts is a Christ figure.
I know what you're thinking: Kuro, you've lost your flipping mind once and for all.
Actually, I've been getting enlightened by my AP Lit & Comp summer assignment; we're supposed to read How to Read Literature Like a Professor. It's actually surprisingly good. But anyway, I just finished the chapter titled "Yes, She's a Christ Figure, Too," and the more I think about it, the more sense it makes.
Just think about it.
-He's sent into the wilderness, leaving behind all he knows and loves -Has the ultimate objective of saving the world(s) from darkness/sin. -Two 'disciples' (aka Donald and Goofy) help him achieve his goal. -Tempted by the devil/darkness/sin -Self-sacrificing (He does it for Kairi, but ultimately it ends up being about the worlds in general) -Resurrected
There are others, but I can't think of them right now. I had a long list earlier.
Not everything lines up; Sora never walked on water or fed five thousand (except if you think about it in the same line as that whole 'six degrees of separation' thing), but there are a lot of parallels.
What's ironic though, is that Christ-figure-Sora is racist against Nobodies, that jerk. (Playing KHII again made me angry at Sora.) That's like Jesus hating tax collectors and lepers.
I know. It's dorky. But you have to admit that now that I've said it, you'll start thinking about it, and when you do you'll realize I'm right.
