No one is safe, and they try their best to escape the horrors that lurk in every corner of their homes. Just try to stop the plague...
Chapter 1 *The Nightmare Beginneth~
It was a brisk afternoon in Bat Country. The storm clouds were forming and the meteorologist had predicted a heavy rainstorm. That didn't shock Moiré in the least. She was sitting on her front lawn, awaiting the school-bus to come retrieve her for another day of academic dulldom. She sighed inwardly. She strongly disliked school, because she got more work than she could handle, and her teachers were all very dry and emotionless. Except when they got angry. Oh how they brought Hell down upon their students. She sometimes wished that she lived faraway, in some distant exotic country. She'd always loved Romania. She liked to think it held all the fantastical characters that she'd read about in books. She couldn't help it; Bat Country was boring and safe. The only problem one might find is getting caught in a storm. She whistled a tune as she waited, watching a rabbit hop by. This reminded her of some "homework" she'd forgotten she should be working on. She pulled a copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass out of her messenger bag, which was covered in pins and stickers of all manner. She smiled slightly, knowing how fond she was of the book. She had to write an essay on it for English class, so she would enjoy this break from the plague of boringness.
But just as she began reading, the bus pulled up. She slung her bag over her shoulder and tucked the book under her arm. She got on and took her regular seat, and got back to reading her book. A few minutes later, Alleine walked down her driveway and tripped on the bus steps. Everyone on sighed with a muttering of "There she goes again!" She stumbled over to her seat beside Moiré . She panted and Moiré rolled her eyes with a slight laugh. They were into the second semester of freshmen year and they were already seeing that the only change from middle and elementary to high school was that the teachers were worse and the work was undeniably more laborious. Otherwise it was like they hadn't graduated at all. They'd just moved to a different building. Alleine shuffled her feet along with the loud rock music blasting out over the radio. She pretended to be strumming her bass. The two girls, and more of their friends were in a band together. She loved every minute of their practices, because it numbed the depressive yawns of Bat Country.
Once they arrived at school, Alleine and Moiré walked to their respective lockers and then went off to Biology class. Alleine quickly scribbled answers on the questions they were supposed to have done for homework, then crammed it all back into her bag.
"Why do you do this to yourself, Alle?"
"Because I don't have time to do this crap, Moi. I'm never gonna be a biologist, so why should I have to put up with this stuff?" She said intensely. She would always get like that when it was a stormy day. She hated storms. They always frightened her into thinking the storms signaled the Armageddon. Moiré didn't understand this logic, but she'd gotten used to it enough to not care anymore. She just brushed her hair out of her face and sat down near Roxy. Roxy looked more pale today than ever, and her dark eyes looked a bit sunken in and haunted with the rings around them. She was slightly swaying in her chair, but she managed a smile at Moi.
