I sniff the air and I soon realize just whom it is chasing us. "Root? Why are you running from the hunters from your own tribe?" I ask confused. "They-huff-are planing-puff-to trade you-huff-as a peace offering...To the outsiders." he explains still running. "Why are you helping me?" I ask, they all want me dead anyway. Why does he care? "...Because, you're...very close to me...Even if...I...won't let anyone hurt you..." he answers. "But I'm not-" I try to argue but he then starts to grow wings and soon they become twice his size. I stare at him, the little light that peaks through the trees makes him glow. Then he looks at me with the eyes one would think belonged to a peacefull river. I gasp at him, he's recived a gift as well, his eyes were so calm...so pure...as I continue gazing into them I find everything getting heavy and then everything goes dark.

I wake up and see large wings beating around me and the clear night sky. "Root?" I say aimlessly and I turn my face to his. "You ok?" he asks as if I were ill. I find myself gazing into his eyes again...still calm...still pure...He closes them, and I blink fighting the trance. "Yes, I'm fine...you're flying..." I say stating what's clear. He opens them again. "Yeah...I can fly faster than I can run, but it makes me tired too quickly...Stop looking in my eyes!" he tells me. "Sorry." I say looking away. He starts to slowly fly lower until we land in a forest clearing. "We'll rest here for now." he says already making himself comfertable. "...ok..." I say and I try to do the same, but it was cold now, too cold for me. We must be in a new area, one my fur is not ment for. I lay myself down and close my eyes still shivering trying not to disturb Root. I hear him get up and walk to me. He then sets himself down close to me and covers me with one of his wings. It was warm, somehow and he hugged his arms around me. I flinched, I'm not used to people holding me like this...Why does he do so much for me? He suddenly answers my thoughts, "I love you."
