Two Swords, One Battle

Two Blades...
Two Powers...
One World...

Long ago, a battle between two mighty powers existed: one power was known as Crusade, for they fought to protect their way of life and the whole world; the other power was known as Cataclysm, for they fought only to bring destruction to the world. If this battle consisted only of normal warriors with regular weapons, this battle might have ended. However, this battle also consisted of two objects beyond the power of normal man and normal steel: the Blades of Infinity. These two swords contain power unknown to normal beings. Genesis, the sword of Crusade, contained power from the highest God and contained more light and goodness than mostly everything. Apocalypse, the sword of Cataclysm, was created by the most evil Demon to ever exist: it could only be wielded by one of the most powerful beings in the universe. If these two swords were to be combined to be of good use, the world would prosper forever. However, if they were to be used to destroy the world, then the world would eventually die. Since these two swords were on opposite sides, though, the battle between good and evil raged on.

A thousand years later, Zane, a boy of about six years of age, was playing in the forest one day. His parents strictly told him not to go into that forest for any reason because it was the property of Cataclysm, but he didn't listen. He thought that they said that only to ruin his fun. That day, he was proven to be wrong.

A hundred Cataclysm soldiers could be seen resting and talking from where Zane was standing. Two of these soldiers, who seemed to be low in rank, said to one another, "Why are we out here again?" "The general said that we need to find this sword out here. I think it was called Generation or Genetic or something like that." Not knowing what if they meant harm or not, Zane took one small step closer to them in order to listen in on their conversation. As he did, he tripped over a small branch, which could be heard a mile away. The soldiers jumped at the sound of it. "It came from over there!" One soldier pointed out. When they turned, they could all see a small boy laying on his face. Another man shouted, "This boy must be from the village close by. Get him!"

When Zane saw the soldiers rush toward him, he got up and began to run away as fast as possible. It was about ten minutes before he stopped. This time, he bumped into something: some type of altar. It stood pretty tall compared to Zane. Curious about what it was, he began to climb to the top. Once he reached his destination, he was surprised at what he saw.

A sword as dark as a moonless night sky stood in a pillar. This sword gave off a strange feeling... it seemed to be alive. Before he got a chance to walk closer to this marvel, he heard one of the soldiers yell, "He's up there!" Panicking, he moved farther from the soldiers and closer to the sword. While trying to shield himself, he noticed an engraving on the pillar that carried the sword. 'This sword shall bring the world into peace if the wielder is willing enough. Only the just can wield Genesis.' Not knowing what else to do, he grabbed the sword. Once he did, the sword began to glow. A black light covered Zane's eyes, and he could not see anything for the time being.

Once the darkness disappeared, he noticed that now, instead of being on top of the altar, he was now back on the forest floor. Around him laid the dead bodies of the soldiers that wanted to kill him. This sword... it must've been the one the soldiers were looking for. "Genesis."

Zane never returned to his home since that day. It was ten years later, and he was now sixteen years old. He kept Genesis with him since that day. It proved to be more useful than he could've ever imagined. Many times he was confronted with more soldiers like the ones he met ten years ago. However, he was stronger and more skilled in the art of the sword. He had no difficulty killing the lot of them: whether there were ten men or a hundred men. If it was his skill alone or the fact that he wielded a legendary sword, he did not know, but he survived. What he did not know is that his survival meant the fate of the world.
