The Man Inside the Crystal
Most of your life... trapped.
Trapped inside a crystal.
How can that be?
Is it even possible?
Actually, it's happened once before to a young man. It wasn't out of stupidity that got him stuck in the diamond in the first place. It was love.
Trace was the name of the one who got stuck in the crystal. He was about sixteen years old at that time. He lived in a small village east of a series of mountains, where many angels settled in and called home. Oh yeah; forgot to mention that he was an angel. That one little fact might have made the rest of this story somewhat confusing, but at least we know that now.
It was a hot summer day. Trace was sitting near a lake with his loved one, Selena. Ever since they were born, they have been best friends. While growing up, they stayed by each other's side, not wanting to be anywhere else. It wasn't until a year previous that Trace told Selena that he had always loved her; she replied by saying that she felt the same way. Together, nothing bad could happen. Or so they thought...
A massive rainstorm started sooner than could be expected. Both Trace and Selena got soaked in less than a few seconds. Seeing as how the village was too far from where they were, they decided to stay in one of the caves in the series of mountains ahead. It wasn't long before they found one. They began to observe the cave once they dried off. As they looked deeper into it, it seemed as if the cave would never end. Curious, both Trace and Selena walked deeper into the cave until they came across what seemed to be a dream...
A room full of crystals that towered over seven feet. Impossible to imagine, huh? Well, it turns out that it was once home to the Goddess of the Angels, Rosetta. Neither Trace nor Selena knew this, but the room itself still intrigued them. They began to observe everything around them: the crystals, the room itself, and... some type of platform. Ever more curious, the two of them walked up onto the platform to discover a stand containing a necklace with a crystal even more miraculous than the others: a diamond that could shine off the light from any environment, even when there was no light available. Selena went up to the necklace, having a desire to put it on. Trace had a feeling that something bad was going to happen, but he let her grab the necklace anyway. Wrong choice...
As soon as Selena grabbed the necklace, a massive earthquake began. Crystals were spewing from the ground as if someone from under the floor of the cave was pushing them upwards. The upcoming crystals started near the end of the cave, and rapidly came toward where Trace and Selena was. "Selena, let's get out of here!" Trace yelled. She didn't hear a word he said: she was in shock of what was happening. Looking behind, Trace noticed that the the new-forming crystals made their way to the platform. "Selena!" Without thinking, Trace ran as quickly as possible to Selena and pushed her out of the way. He was just on time, too. The crystals had made their way to the top of the platform. Selena fell after being pushed aside. Trace tried to go up to her, but he was frozen in place. Looking down, he noticed that his feet were caught by the crystals. His legs were soon developed, then his waist, his arms and chests, and finally his neck. Before he was completely enveloped in crystal, Trace told Selena, "Get out of here as fast as possible! GO!" Listening to what she had been told, she tried to make her way out. However, the earthquake had began to make the cave fall in. Before Selena could take more than a few steps, she was squished by thousands of rocks. "No! Selena!" Trace yelled, not being able to stand what he had just seen. A few seconds later, his head became enveloped in the crystal. He was frozen forever, alone and afraid...
It's been fifty years since that day. The angels have completely died out, and humans and demons began to fill their place in the world. The chamber where Trace was trapped in the crystal and where Selena died still exists in perfect conditions; time has caused all the rocks that formed during the earthquake to disappear. Trace still remains in the crystal: because he had been frozen in time, he had not aged in appearance. How long will he stay in there, though?
