Chapter Two

"What took you two so long?" Livana shrieked jumping up from the sofa as Caracinia and Fair entered the door. "You two didn't go on a secret date I don't know about did you?" She asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

Caracinia shakes her head slowly ans speaks in nothing but a whisper. "No...She took too long...to leave..." She winced and begins to shake as she remembers what she saw.

Fair placed his hand on her shoulder and says in a calming voice, "It is alright Caracinia...Go take a bath and relax...Alright?"

Caracinia nods then rushes upstairs.

Livana narrowed her eyes at Fair. "What happened?"

Fair holds his hands up in defense. "Please do not give me that look. I did nothing, I swear."

"Uh-huh." She frowns in disbelief. "Sure..."

"Livana, you are new to this, so I won't hold that suspicion against you. Caracinia..." He sighs then continues, "Caracinia saw the past of the spirit she diminished."

Livana's eyes widen. "Oh...is that why she does not speak often or loudly. Cause she can see their pasts?" She asks, sitting herself back down on the sofa.

Fair hangs his coat inside a closet near the door then walks over and sits on the sofa across from Livana. "You see...Caracinia, before now, never had a voice to speak with."

"Never...had a voice?" Livana asks shocked.

Fair nodded. "Unlike everyone else, she did not have vocal chords, or at least, they were sealed. Her voice, when speaking in normal tone, not a whisper, can take over a persons will. Rendering them unresistant to her commands. All their freedom for themselves is lost, never to be found again."

"N-Never...?" Livana stutters, just now realizing how dangerous Caracinia really is. "Demon inside a human body, hiden behind an Angel's mask," she thought to herself as she bit her lip to keep from saying this out loud.

Caracinia lifts her leg slowly out of the water. Tracing her leg lightly as thoughts of the days events raced through her mind repeatedly. With a sigh, Caracinia lowers her leg once more.

"What's wrong Silent Rose Caracinia?" say a piping voice.

Caracinia turns her head towards a red rose in a sterling silver vase on the edge of the tub. "You are speaking again...Welcome back...It is nothing..." She sighs once more after replying to the rose.

"Your heart and mind tell me differently. Will it hurt to speak it?"

Nodding, Caracinia sinks under the water, her long hair framing her face. Coming back up, she glances at the clock. "Roja..."


"Yes Silent Rose Caracinia?"

"Show me."

"Too much for you to handle?" Fair asks after glancing at the look on Livana's face. "You seem to be a bit frightened of her now," he added grinning widely.

"What? You weren't scared when you first figured this out? How do you know anyway? Did she tell you or did you learn? Has she done that to anyone in the 'family'?" Livana asks rushingly, standing suddenly.

"My my...What a curious one you are." he notes as he locks this eyes on hers. Sighing, Fair closes his eyes. "I was ignorant when I first learned of Caracinia's ability. I decided to test he. Though, everything I had done proved to be worthless effort. So...I used my ability on her. Charm. Lead her away and did the last thing I would ever resort to get what I wanted." At this, he opened his eyes halfway, sadden and angered by this memory.

Livana, not missing the chance to see a flaw in him asked, "What did you do?"

Closing his eyes with a sigh once more, he leaned back further in her chair answering, "That story is for another time Livana, Silent Moon."

She pouts. "You don't trust me?"

Fair sighs, his thoughts active. "How to answer without hurting this young one's feelings.."

Livana kept herself from tapping her foot in the awkward silence. Though her given name was Silent Moon, she never had much patience for silent moments like this. This answer she want badly and was eager to find a sudden flaw to his character since she had first met him. What triggered it this time was that sentence. "What had he done to her?" She wondered as her impatience kicked in.

"Go with the simple answer." Fair told himself, breathing out his held breath. "Its more--"
