- I am the second child of Holden Montgomery and Adele Chevalier. My father is an American businessman and my mother is a Frenchwoman who owns various art galleries in America and around Europe. They divorced when I was 10 so my sister, Amelie, and I split our time between the Montgomery country house in Philadelphia and the Chevalier manor in Rueil. It was hard on us until Amelie and I decided that we were tired of moving between houses and our parents decided to send us to boarding school. They wanted the best so, of course, the only option was to enroll us in Wellington. Amelie, who is a year older than me, is now in a university in France, taking up Interior Design.
As expected, Amelie and I grew close to each other. It was the only way we could survive the constant traveling between countries. Of course, like normal siblings, we bicker and quarrel over the most pointless things sometimes, too. Growing up, it was a bit hard to make friends because we traveled between France and America a lot so we learned to keep each other company. When we moved to Wellington, we made friends of our own, hung out with different sets of people so we didn’t get to spend as much time together anymore. And especially now, too, when she’s already in university but we keep in touch through e-mails and instant messaging.
It wouldn’t be fair to say that our parents were disinterested in our well-beings. When Amelie and I were younger, we craved their attention and got angry at them because, even if we were staying with our mother or our father at the time, we didn’t get to see them as much, engrossed as they were in their work. My father invests in a lot of businesses, hospitals, hotels, and restaurants. You could say he’s like a jack of all trades while mother manages a chain of art galleries. I remember she had a lot of male visitors whenever Amelie and I were around. It wasn’t until later that Amelie and I found out they were her lovers. It bothered us but we learned to shut them out whenever they locked themselves in mother’s room.
Although Mother had a lot of lovers, she never re-married but Father did. His second wife’s name is Ana and she’s a pediatrician. She’s also a divorcee, but she didn’t have any kids with her first husband. I remember the wedding was extravagant. She made Amelie her maid of honor. Amelie despised the woman at first, but that was only because she didn’t want anyone to replace Mother. But Ana grew on her and they’re actually quite close now, too. Ana and Father had twins, Ezra and Ethan, after Amelie and I moved to Wellington. They’re two years old now and I don’t see much of them but they’re devilish little tykes. I guess I was jealous of them since Father pays more attention to them than he ever did to me or my sister but it’s hard to resent babies.
Life in Wellington was like one big party. I mean, sure we had to keep our grades up or else risk the wrath of our parents but there were ways around actually having to study or do homework. And even with the school’s disciplinary rules, there were always ways around them, especially if you’re a resourceful teenager. Of course, the school would have to keep a low profile on their students’ antics since it’s supposed to be respectable and there has never been a problem yet that can’t be settled with our parents’ money.

- People who don’t know me too well are usually quick to assume that I’m just another spoiled kid who depends on his parents to get me through tight situations and who doesn’t really care about the consequences of my actions because I know mommy and daddy will use their money and influences to get me out of trouble. Sure, my grades at Wellington were less-than perfect and my record is not exactly immaculate but I’m more than just a pretty face.
My friends know me as an outgoing prankster who doesn’t condone physically hurting people. To me, causing mischief is fun, but I draw the line at violence or bullying because that’s pure malice. I’m no saint, either, but I know when enough is enough. I’m not a wet blanket, though, but I won’t stay quiet if I think things have gone too far. I’m not easy to anger and can keep my cool in pressuring situations.
I’ll admit it now, but I’m vain. It’s a trait that I share with my sister, Amelie. All our lives, we’ve had people telling us we’re such a good-looking pair so some of that compliment’s gone to our heads. I’m metro-sexual, meaning I like to dress up more than your average guy. But I don’t really enjoy shopping in malls. I find that buying stuff over the internet is so much more efficient and I don’t even have to put up with annoying crowds. Not that I don’t like crowds. I’m just impatient and I hate waiting in line for anything.
As you would expect, coming from a rich family, I am spoiled (to some extent). I won’t throw a fit or a tantrum if I can’t have things my way. No, that’s too childish. I find that it’s better to prod people into doing what I want them to. Anything else, I can settle with a little bit of money. Father and Mother are usually quite happy to send me some money whenever I ask them to. I don’t like messes and would much rather handle things as neatly as possible and the one thing that will ensure that is money.
I traveled a lot when I was younger and I realized that I’m the type of person who likes to explore new places. Sure, I’m used to five-star hotels and impeccable service but I also enjoy quaint little coffee shops and homey bookstores. And, though I’m used to cruising around in comfortable leather seats and expensive luxury cars, I also like walking the streets of Europe. Actually, when I’m in Europe, I prefer to walk if my destination is within walking distance. So, no, I am not entirely spoiled but it would be a lie to say that I’m not used to the finer things in life.
